Is China the most geographically diversified country?

Title is pretty self explanatory. Was talking to a friend about which country has the most diverse landscape. I voted China but he was saying that the USA is more diverse because of Florida. I think Southern China is more tropical than Florida but we agreed that the ATOT Gods should decide.

BTW, he's not a member and I am, so vote China. Kthx. 🙂

I am going to make an absolutely wild assumption: you are Chinese?

I would wager that Hawaii alone has more climate zone than China.

I'm American. But damnit, I forgot about Hawaii...

Epic Fail...

I would have thought the US was (though "geographically diversified" is kind of an amorphous concept). We range from Death Valley, one of the hottest places on earth, to the North Pole, and we have the tropical jungles and volcanoes of Hawaii, the temperate rain forest of the Pacific Northwest, the stunning desert terrain of the southwest, real mountain ranges and some very high peaks, one of the world's largest rivers, etc.

Hainan is much larger than Hawaii and also has a tropical climate.

I would say the mainlands are on par in that aspect. china has deserts, highlands, plains, etc. but if you throw in alaska and hawaii I don't know.

Hainan has volcanoes and snow too? I have family members from my father side there, and they never say anything about volcanoes.

China = tropical, subtropical, cold desert, alpine, extreme alpine, alpine that tickles god's nuts, temperate, maritime, steppe, taiga, cloud forest, rain forest, tower karst. China has enormous river gorges the US lacks (the Columbia River Gorge is big, but not like some of the Chinese gorges).

USA = tropical, sub-tropical, hot desert, cold desert, thorn scrub, alpine, extreme alpine, temperate, steppe, taiga, tundra, maritime, cloud forest, rain forest. The US has the Colorado Plateau canyonlands. I don't know if China has anything similar.

I think the US might have China beat with tundra, hot desert, and thorn scrub while China has tower karst and the big gorges.

Russia has temperate, alpine, extreme alpine, steppe, more steppe, taiga, maritime, cold desert, tundra. It lacks tropical and sub-tropical. Overall, I think Russia has less diversity of landscape than the US or China.

Don't know, but I'm pretty sure northern China has a lot of snow.

Anyway, what about Brazil. They have a massive jungle in their country, plus the amazon river. And they have mountains and deserts in there as well.

I would have to say Russia.

Agree with Russia.

I don't see how Russia is even competitive in this discussion. It doesn't have the diversity of climate and temperature, and its tallest mountain is shorter than ours and MUCH shorter than China's.

Are you people all idiots? Just look at a map. Russia isn't close, they don't have anything that's even close to being tropical and China doesn't have anything close to Arctic.

God, How could I have been so retarded in thinking that the height of china's mountains may have created an environment that was similar to that of arctic conditions.
