Is chewing on ice bad for your teeth?

Yes, but not for the reasons you'd think.

IIRC the real problem is the temperature, it causes stress fractures in enamel.

As it happens I had to get a molar repaired about 3 weeks ago after I chipped it while chewing ice. So, yes, it is bad. Period. And, yes, I have stopped chewing ice.

It can be, though it isn't specifically chewing.

Some people (myself included) just like it. I try to avoid chewing it, but I usually end up doing it anyway.

I have chewed ice my since I was a kid. A couple of years ago, I dropped ~$2500 at the dentist to get a bunch of crowns put in. The reason...cracked teeth resulting from chewing ice

You know what they say about ice chewers though, right? Haha
Sexually frustrated...😉

I wouldn't do it anyways, even if I wasn't gettin any. I was always told from a young age that it would damage your teeth, although the temperature change isn't as bad as if you were drinking coffee and eating ice cream. That'll make your teeth crack for sure!
