But we can never be sure because the act of observing your bias could change it...

Hmm.... In my readings of quantum mechanics I could swear I've heard a similar idea.
Surely someone must know the principle to which I am referring. ;)

I disagree that it is stuff that you should know. Unless you are going to go into a field that deals with one of those two subjects, then there is really no need to take them. That's especially true if you hate science classes. Sure they may make you seem smarter but don't go taking a class that you know you are going to hate and might not even understand.

God forbid someone get a well rounded education. I'm a pre-pharmacy major and have taken courses in music, native american history, communication studies, etc on top of the rigorous lab classes. Its nice to learn things from different angles and try to apply things learned in other classes towards the physical sciences.

Of course it's good to get a well rounded education. However, you don't have to take courses that you have absolutely no interest in (or even hate) to do so. I'm an Economics major and I've taken courses in chem, religion, history, etc. BUT I only took them because I had at least a little bit of interest in the subject. There is no way that I would take a class when the subject doesn't interest me at all and I probably won't get anything out of it. To me that is a waste of my time and my money. Also, there are other science classes that he can take that might be more interesting to him.
