Is cereal a good substitute for a "real" lunch?

I'm trying to watch my calorie/fat/etc intake and I figured a good way would be to substitute cereal + skim milk for lunch....

It's fullfilling enough, and I eat like this oatmealish cereal..

Just curious if this is healthy....

No because if you look it's all carbs, mostly sugar. Even the "healthy ones." They'll just spike your blood sugar for a while and make you hungry later in the afternoon.

If you're going to eat cereal, eat steel-cut oatmeal or a high fiber cereal like Allbran.

As long as you don't overeat (see how many servings/calories it has) then it's perfectly fine to eat cereal as a meal replacement for ANY meal.

Ughhh I was on an All Bran diet (edit: I mean only for breakfast) for almost a year and every time I imagine it's taste, I start to retch.

At least eat Raisin Bran or something. You'll still get a decent amount of fiber, but with a bit of sweetness from the raisins (and their sugar coating).

Depends on what you're eating. Cereal is a terrible food if you're dieting. It's nothing but sugar and carbs. If you really want to lose weight, have 100% whole oats. Tastes like ass but they're complex carbs that your body needs in the morning, and also lowers cholesterol levels. But if you're sticking with cereal, lay off the sugary kinds.
