Is CAS 2 worth it?

I was just thinking about something. I run stable at CAS2 up to 171 FSB on my generic CAS2.5 2700 DDR. If I were to set it to CAS2.5 again then raise the FSB some more (maybe to 180), would it be worth it?

Basically, my question is:
CAS2@171FSB or CAS2.5@178FSB, which is better.

I was just surprised by something I read at the Mushkin website...
Mushkin tech FAQ (3rd paragraph)
They say "with DDR memory CAS latency has almost no influence on performance"
Im no OC expert, but dont most ppl consider CAS latency one of the most important memory settings?

from Crucial's faq:

CAS latency 2 parts process data a little quicker than CAS latency 2.5 parts in that you have to wait a half clock cycle less for the initial data. However, after the first piece of data is processed, the rest of the data is processed at equal speeds. Latency only affects the initial burst of data. Once data starts flowing, there is no effect.

Bear in mind, a clock cycle for a system properly using a PC2100 DDR module is 8 nanoseconds, so the difference between CAS latency 2 and CAS latency 2.5 for PC2100 parts is 4 billionths of a second. You probably won't be able to notice the difference.

In the old PC133 age, Crucial's PC133 cas2 is same price as PC133 cas3. It's worth to buy cas2.

It's true, the CAS setting shows very little memory performance gain in benchmarks with DDR. However, the trp, trcp, and command rate do show signicant increases by dropping the setting. With an XP1800, 8k3a mobo, I showed about a 8 point gain in Sandra memory bandwidth scores by dropping to cas 2, which is virtually nothing on a 3000 score.

I read an article that someone compiled a while back that did a BUNCH of memory tests and one specific test was CAS latency. Their conclusion, which I agree with, was that if you can squeeze more FSB say from 166 to 175 by dropping your CAS latency from 2 to 2.5 you're better off doing so. Currently system speed benefits more from a higher FSB.

Hey what about us DC folks? Seti loves 2-2-2-6-1 settings!!!
