Is car choice linked to IQ? YOU JUDGE!

I swear that 9 times out of 10, whenever I see a driver pull a stupid or risky maneuver on the road, it is usually a Ford vehicle of some type. I don't know if Fords automatically appeal to less intelligent people because of the lower price and faux styling, or if they simply don't know any better and select cars that rust profusely and break down regularly. Whatever the reason, drivers of Fords cause more problems for the commuter.

Next time someone merges at the last second, tries going up a one-way street, goes 45 in a 55 for no reason, has the high beams on all the time (or one headling on high and pointing up), blocks 2 lanes of oncoming traffic to make a left turn, pulls out when there is clearly not enough room, breaks down and doesn't pull completely off the road, puffs out so much black smoke you need to use your wipers, or has difficulty parking between the lines, note the make of the car. I'll wager it is a Ford product.

hey you know that several of those "yuppie" makes you listed were covered by one of the other companies. mercedes is chrysler, volvo (as well as jag, aston martin, and land rover) are ford, and saab is gm.

ford did outsell gm in the us for most of the 90s, so chances are if someone did something stupid, yeah, it was probably in a ford.

i see a lots of marques doing stupid things

maybe you should stop hating ford so much and open your eyes for a change?

Gotta go with the yuppies. I've never seen a BMW, Saab, or Mercedes commercial that doesn't suggest their drivers suddenly become super sophisticated, extremely capable, suave motorists who can outrun, outmanuever, and outclass professional drivers. Truth of the matter is, they're still the same driver as before only this time, in a more expensive container.

The three most common brands I see pulling stupid moves are 1. SUV type 2. Saturn 3. Kia. Then after those, low end nissans and hondas.

People in Kias and Saturns seem more likely to drive down the shoulder of the highway than a pickup truck driver if traffic isn't moving their way.

Definitely riceboys that drive Hondas...;) ...meaning NOT ALL honda drivers but just those riceboys... dragging their bodykits that are about to fall off because they scraped it somewhere. And those so-called badasses that drive muscle cars... even though they think they aren't riceboys they act just like one... cuttting in and out of traffic so damn wrecklessly... what's worse is some of them drive the V6 ones...... and they put those Altezza style lights on their Mustangs...WTF?

Not quite. They are considered near-luxury or luxury, but I think BMW and MB are held in somewhat higher regard.

I have to agree, I've never seen more Moron drivers that think they own the road then the idiots in BMW's especially. Primarily the Executive on a cell phone or a Wife Gold Digger on cell phone. I think BMW sells their cars with a Cell phone and infinant minute call plan.

see, i tend to notice a correlation between cars that...when you look at the car, you JUST KNOW they don't have insurance...those are the ones that seem to have the most reckless drivers

<<mercedes is chrysler>>

It's far more accurate to say that Chrysler is Mercedes. Semantics aside, the worst drivers are either distracted (mom or dad driving with carload of kids, person eating, person on cell phone, etc.) or young. It's not linked to any particular brand or to any particular type of vehicle.

While many "yuppies" buy BMWs, they are also usually the cars of choice for those like me who "live for the drive." They are simply just fun to drive! Get behind the wheel of one, and you'll understand.

I think so, for the most part. Most Camaro, Trans-Am, or Corvette drivers I've met act like they're still in high school (ok, some are). Perhaps maturity isn't indicative of IQ, but I've never met I considered to be intelligent.

As an example: I was behind a guy in a Camaro during lunch. He had these cheesy sunglasses on, playing his music loud, thinking he was the coolest. Worst part? His license plate said, "BADNESS." This is largely the type of guy I see driving these cars...

There are exceptions, but I dare anyone to challenge the above. Are not the majority of the guys that drive these cars "cool guy" wannabes? They think they're driving a "sports car", and that women chase after them because they have a loud exhaust note.

this is flame bait if i've ever seen it. HAHAHAHA.

Obviously most people on AT don't agree with you. take a look at your poll. truth is considering ford made up 33% of sales for ALL autos during the 90's the fact that ford shows up only 15% of the time in this polls is pretty indicative that you are FULL OF SH!T.

Truth is you just don't LIKE fords and your conclusions are based upon your BIAS and not FACT.

True that... I see for more idiotic riceboys than other drivers.

I think it should be more class of car, not make of car. (ex. Sports, SUV, family...)
