Is buying a GFTi4600 not worth the extra $100 compared to the Ti4400?

Simple question. The $100 price difference does not seem to be worth a 25mz more of core power. The Ti4600 seems barely stronger, and there isn't anything outstanding about it compared to the Ti4400.

Super extra bonus question: Now to only find an AMD-compatible motherboard with 8xAGP that isn't VIA.. sigh.

One of the best deals out there still appears to be the Radeon 8500 64MB DDR retail card if you don't need bragging rights or frame rates higher than the Washington Monument.

Since all 4400s can be overclocked to 4600 levels and since the 4600 doesn't overclock incredibly well, I'd say no.

I would just wait for the next generation of cards. The Geforce 4 seemed to be a suped-up Geforce 3. The 4200 isn't supposed to be out for a while. You also may want to wait and see what Ati releases in the near future.

Thanks, but there's always people that say wait for the next generation. My GF2 needs to go.

I just went from a g3 ti-200 to a ti-4600. I didn't expect much difference but I was wrong. Mucho difference. I couldn't believe it.

Worth the $100 difference? I had a $100 in gift certs to BB.🙂

I actually wanted a 4400 but they only had the 4600. I tried to walk away but I couldn't. I had to experience the "bowel loosening framerates" the box touted.😱

I thought it was "bowel softening framerates"? Same difference I suppose. 🙂

IMHO no,the GF4 Ti4400 can be overclocked to virtually Ti4600 speeds so you save $100,only those wanting the fastest possible card where money is no object would go for the Ti4600.

Myself I`m going to wait for Nvidia`s next graphics card.

It depends solely on if you can use $100 better elsewhere.. if not, then go with the Ti4600. Myself concerned, I would put that $100 into a hd or something else. The Ti4400 is definitely a powerful card and will last you as long as the Ti4600 would.
