i'm thinking about getting tickets to see him in august. i know he's raunchy and stuff, but is it actually any good? tickets are $40/person. and i can't google his material because i'm at work right now
 
Just to draw some conclusions from weird sources... as of late Comedy Central has had roasts for Bob Saget, Larry the Cable Guy, Flava Flave, and Jeff Foxworthy. The later 3 are worthless excuses for human beings, so I'll assume so is Bob.

Yeah, I went to see him in San Jose 3 years ago and he was hilarious. I'd heard from other people that his stuff was extremely dirty, but it didn't turn out to be the case. I even took a girl I'd just started dating to it because my roommate couldn't go at the last second and she took it in stride.
 
Jeff Foxworthy is one of the greatest comedians who's ever lived. He's also the single most successful, most rich comedian because of it. Just because you don't have any taste doesn't mean he's a worthless human being. I agree with you on Flava Flav, though. LtCG is a genius and also ridiculously rich. You're just bitter because you don't make $300,000 a night like he does. Bob Saget's comedy is okay I guess. Not to my liking, but he's got to be to SOMEONE's liking (and a whole lot of someones) because he's rich as hell. It's pretty interesting to hear the Full House dad say fuck though :laugh:

I think he's pretty funny. Some of his stuff may make some people uncomfortable, but that's what makes it good.

I don't think Jeff Foxworthy is worthless as a human being, but comedically he's pretty close to worthless. I reject the idea that he is "one of the greatest comedians who's ever lived" merely due to his commercial success - that's like saying Britney Spears is one of the greatest musicians who's ever lived. I also don't believe he's the most successful or the richest comic - Jerry Seinfeld, among others, has surpassed him in both arenas, while being much better respected in comedy circles. LtCG is more of the same - witless crap meant to appeal to the vast Wal-Mart crowd.

As for the OP, I think Saget is a witty guy but from what I've heard his comedy is based almost entirely on shock value. I've heard him be funny in interviews but when I sat down to watch his HBO special a year or so ago I didn't crack a smile. Tom Shales' review seems to concur. YMMV, though.
 
Un-funniest human on the planet on his TV shows. In stand up however I have no clue. But being the worst comedian on TV, I would never pay to go see him.
 
I've never seen the aristocrat, but I've heard his version of it gets pretty raunchy. Don't know if I've ever really seen any of Saget's standup either, but sounds like it's pretty bad as well.

Just hard to get the family man image out of my mind, lol. When I think of Bob Saget first things that come to mind are Full House and America's Funniest Home Videos, not dirty jokes. 😛
 
Wow, I can't believe so many people think his stand up is funny. Maybe I saw him on a bad night. It was a lot of Full House jokes with the word "Fuck" thrown in there. Oh and I remember one gem that went:

My daughter is in karate. She's a brown belt. Well, it used to be a white belt but she dropped it in the toilet.

Then he pretended to drop the mic but held onto it by the cord while making a "did I just say that" face. It was really very lame. But again, maybe that was just a bad night for him.
 
I have never seen his stand up, but I have heard from a few people that it is really funny. Funny and raunchy. 😉
 
its pretty good, he likes to take someone from the audience and sorta pick them apart, he picked apart these gangster looking dodger fans in ontario, ca where i saw him. it was worth my money
