Passat has ~9k on it, the S8 1200. Can't say much about the S8 yet, but the Passat hasn't given me a bit of a problem.
Ah, but the R8...hrm.... =D

i just dont get this at all
do audi sell different cars in the US or something?
i rarely hear of audis, even older ones going wrong on this side of the pond, i do a fair bit of motorway driving on the M1, A1, M18 (some main execu-commute routes) and the last time i saw an audi on the hard shoulder was never. car park at work has a few guys with audis and theyre all perfect. my mate has a R registered (thats 1998) Auid A6 Avant, its done 130,000+ miles and i got in it the other day and it feels like it was built yesterday. no sqeeks, rattles, nothing, all solid. the engine too was solid and pulled really hard and smooth. that car was his dads before he got it and basically its never ever put a foot wrong or missed a beat. so its been abused as a family car and now it sees use lugging allsorts of kit up n down the country (paddle boards, canoes, bikes, etc etc)
i hear similar stories from other audi owners. i was talkin to a guy last week, whos gf is good mates with my gf and he bought himself an S reg (again 98) Audi A3. its superb inside and out, he said its almost like new and theres no major probs with it.
the same cannot be said about my ford focus however.

I have an RS4 (2007), 12,500 miles on it and it's flawless. Very Very good quality control these days!
Come back when you have 100,000 miles on it.
If you can afford a RS4, you most likely will never put 100,000 miles on it if you're the original owner.
