Is AT turning into a Mac site?

I just read through the staggering number of Mac posts in Anand's blog. Apparently, Anand has a real enfatuation with these devices, which is fine.

I just don't understand what's going on with the site. The percentage of Mac articles has jumped recently. Apple has <5% market share and they haven't really done anything exciting lately. They're not "early adopters" of core technologies: PCIe, DDR, SATA, AGP8X... The bleeding edge has always been with the PC. That's what excites me: new, bleeding edge technology.

FreeBSD, Aqua, and the G5 don't do a thing for me.

AT's motto seems to be "Your source for hardware analysis and news". There's very little news coming from the Apple camp other than a few speed bumps.

Is this the direction that AT is going in the future?

Perhaps the Mac platform is where Anand is spending his time. There are plenty of reasons why that might be so but really, why should you (we) care? I'm an AMD fanboy but I've spent a lot of time lately trying to drum up funds to get an Intel system to play with. I don't see how that affects my status as an AMD fanboy.

And I don't see any distinction in Anand's situation.

Anand? hes just a no one on this site. i mean his blog doesnt mean anything at all. your just making stuff up arent you

Last time I checked, the term "hardware" doesn't mean "PC".

I'm glad to see Anand giving attention to Apple and their products. I think it goes a long way to showing people that it is a viable computing platform.

I don't think that AnandTech is even close to becoming a Mac site. I just wish some of the people out there that dismiss Apple and their products actually read his thoughts.

If one of the biggest names in computer hardware information and reviews like Apple, then there are obviously some compelling reasons. If people could just get past their own perception of what the company is and does, then maybe they could see that.

You're missing out FlyLice. The AT hardware pages as well as the AT hardware and software forums are where it's at. Most of my accumulated posts come from outside ATOT.

I see two articles on the front page involving mac/apple. Anand's blog is just that, his personal blog.

WTH are you talking about?

Anand likes to keep on open mind about hardware. It's not strictly PC.

So this isn't quite the response I expected.

*douche alert*

What's that for? I'm a douche because I'm asking where this site is going? Go obsess over your Mac somewhere else and save our bandwidth, cretin.

I posted here because I think Apple computers are not worth this site's time. With a tiny user base, overpriced everything, misleading advertising, and slow adoption of the technologies I listed in my first post, Apple doesn't deserve the attention they've gotten.

The Itanium (probably) has a larger user base and far more advanced technology than Apple but I don't recall many IA64 articles recently.

I think you proved the douche comment. Congrats!

Anandtech - your source for hardware analysis and news. It's called broadening your appeal. Just because you're some anti-Mac tool doesn't mean Anand is wasting his time. There's only so many articles for IA64 you can write. "OH NOES, THERES 2 ARTICLES OVER MACS FOR JAN 05, WTFBBQ MAC SUCKS HARDER THAN THE KIDS AT MICHAEL JACKSON'S DAYCARE!"

Funny, nobody here has addressed much of anything I've said. Either its personal attacks or skirting around the issue.

The issue being that Anandtech doesn't cater to your personal tastes and needs?

He's been playing around with Mac hardware in his free time and posting about it in his blog, that's it. Anandtech is still predominately PCs and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Well apparently the owner of this site thinks you are wrong.

If Anand feels that Apple and Macs deserve his attention, maybe you should at least listen.
