This IS my next phone. I've waited long enough for a phone that is worth upgrading to. Was gonna get the S2 a while back, but they delayed it so long that by the time it came out it wasnt even worth buying.

All i hear is that its coming out on verizon, but no info on any other carriers.

I think im just going to buy the international version instead of waiting for these assholes to put the phone out. and whos to say that they wont fuck this phone up. I know the nexus phone is supposed to be a pure android experience, which is the main reason why i want it, but i have a feeling that theyll fuck it up somehow.

The international version is coming out soon right? And it will work with ATT with the same speed as if i were to buy it from them?

absolutely dying for this phone.........

I'm on At&t and feel the same way.

The international version is perfectly compatible with At&t and there is no speed penalty.

Do you think it's going to be even close to as fast as the VZW LTE version?

LTE or not the Galaxy Nexus is an amazing phone. LTE is just icing on an already delicious ice cream sandwich.

nexus have always been no-bloat devices. if a carrier can't agree to that, i doubt they would get the phone. it is strictly google-controlled.

I know how they've always been, but I just have a feeling they're going to mess it up.

And I personally don't even want lte. I'll take better battery on att's faux-g for now.

I just want an announcement of some sort...ANY sort...I've been able to upgrade for 1.5 years now and I'm sick of waiting. If I don't see a Nexus Prime press release in the next week, it'll be the Skyrocket for me. bah.

I am considering dropping ATT just for this phone.

I am hesitant about getting the international phone.. fearing ATT will release its version shortly after I get it. It's stupid there hasn't been an announcement

I waited just as long for AT&T to release a decent non iPhone and finally got a HTC Vivid this week. Not because it's an awesome phone, but because my BB 9000 is dieing and the Vivid is the least crappy phone. I also realized waiting for so long made me a dumbass, because I could have gotten an iP4 and just e-bayed it.

Also AT&T is gonna fuk us on the Nexus launch, because it's AT&T. I'm expecting them to launch months from now when I no longer care, like they did with the Nexus S.

These are the same people that released the Samsung Galaxy S II half a year after the international version then then 6 weeks later launched the LTE version for $50 less (in select markets)

The LG Nitro HD/Optimus HD looks good. It might be worth looking into.

Who cares if AT&T fucks you over? Just buy the international one. If you want to get subsidized pricing, get an iPhone 4S, sell it and use your funds to buy the international one. Nothing stops you from doing so.

Meanwhile CDMA users are 100% dependent on their carrier actually having the phone or not. Those on AT&T are free to bring their own phone.

what ive been doing for the past 2 years. I was just hoping i could get it through att and not have to go through the hassle of buying and selling a 4s. Plus i wont have insurance on my prime now.

just wondering, is the prime release date for the international version that will work on att out? and can you buy both the lte and 3g version of the phone?

Like i said, if i can permanently switch off lte, and only use it when i need it, thats cool, but id rather have better battery with 3g.

If you get it through ATT you will be limited to their capped/ripoff data plans. Get the 4S, sell it, and get on the $15 unlimited medianet plan and save yourself alot of cash in the process.

The international version will work on ATT, and apparently it's the 17th in the UK, which should be the same one we can get here.

thanks for the date.

I've been grandfathered in paying 30/mo. Ive heard theyll throttle you if your in the top 10% or something like that. I dont use too much, but i like to know that ill at least not have to pay more than 30.

I was on the 10/mo unlimited, but i switched to a legit plan a few years ago because i got a new phone/wanted to keep unlimited forever (thought having a sort of-illegitamate plan would make me lose out of unlimited)

FYI im pretty sure you cant buy an iphone/smart phone, and then downgrade your internet package. I think your locked in for 6 months or something if im not mistaken. <<doesnt affect me because i have a grandfathered data plan anyway.

With the Nexus S, the device was available in the U.S. about a month after announcement on December 16th. AT&T got a subsidized version only at Best Buy in late June. I think the Nexus One only came to AT&T unsubsidized.

If I wanted the GN on AT&T, I would be buying and selling the white iPhone 4S to get cash in hand....

is white the way to go for resale? Ive heard that since they are more available, white isnt in demand anymore. And what about 16v32v64gb?

I was going to go with a 16B black 4s for resale.

I am eligble for an upgrade, so I would buy the iphone 4s sell it (make ~400) then I buy an international Samsung. Do I call att and cancel my data plan then? Don't I have to pay the ETF at this point?

buy the sub'd phone, sell it and just activate your nexus. you are maintaining your rate plan, so no etf applies

You won't have to pay the ETF, but you will still have to let ATT know because they have to switch some things. I bought an Atrix without telling ATT I ditch my iPhone 4 and my texting and voicemail both weren't working because they were set up for iphone use, which apparently isn't the same as Android use. So until they get it in their system that you switched phones you'll have wonky text and completely broken voicemail (unless you use google voice).

But the whole point is to get on the medianet plan right? Won't I need to cancel the existing data plan to do that?

you aren't cancelling anything... you are simply changing phones. You will need to maintain a data plan (medianet) on whatever phone you choose.

ATT really doesn't care what you do with that iphone as long as you maintain your service plan. But you will need to call them and tell them you are switch to XXX phone for it to work properly

Ok. So buy subed iphone. Sell iphone. Buy unsubsidized phone. Call att to let them know about new phone. Change $30 data plan to $15 data plan <--- this step doesn't cause the ETF?

No it does not. The contract is not "keep this exact data plan for two years" it's "you must be a paying customer for two years."

Do not tell them you have a Nexus though. The medianet plan is supposed to only be for feature phones. Just say you gave your iphone to your sister and are using a cheap nokia or something, then put the SIM in your GN.

This is iffy. But if you can read off an imei from a old crappy phone (like a razr) then i can see it working.

Not 100% sure about having to maintain the $25-30/mo package when buying an iphone or smartphone.

i know you cant remove data once you buy an iphone. I think its part of the subsidy.

Pretty sure they mandate you have a data plan for a certain amount of time when you buy a subsidized smart phone.

I can also see them breaking this rule if the following scenario happens. You buy an iphone, coming from a phone with no data plan. You lose the iphone, and arent able to get a new smartphone. should you then be required to keep the data package even though you dont have a phone capable anymore?
