i am overclocking my e6300 on a p5b deluxe and have been using asus probe II to monitor my temps. when testing cpu load i run dual 32mb super pi's and run everest cpu benchmark loops in the background. but i noticed that at loaad asus probe says 55c and everest asays between 66-67c which is a big difference, all other sensors read identical except cpu. i tried speedfan but it only picks up the HDD sensor. which one should i beleive? i am running mt e6300 at 7x495 at 1.4125v.

PC Probe is pretty accurate usually.

Run CoreTemp or Intel's Thermal Analysis Tool to check CPU temps also.

core temp reports the temperature of teh on-die temp diode. PC Probe II reports the motherboard CPU diode temp. it is normal for Core temp to report 8-10C higher than PC probe II.

so PC probe II is pretty accurate, but you have to understand WHAT it is reporting (as opposed to something like Core Temp)

Technically, yes, they are kinda high.

But so are mine.

And so are a zillion other P5B Deluxe users.

In fact, in general, temps on C2D seem very high.

I think mainly because the way temps are measured on C2Ds is different than traditional CPUs.
But maybe i am completely wrong on that...who knows.
