I want to literally beat the shit out of some of them,
Your anger must be great to desire to strike them to the point that they excrete feces. May you find some peace. This world has enough fecal matter.

This one always drives me nuts, because the saying is "I couldn't care less", to make the point that you really truly do not care and could not care any less.

Saying you can care less doesn't really make a point at all.
Since if you actually do care, then guess what?...You "could" care less.

"How much less could you care?" is an appropriate response.

'Know what I'm saying' could be place them from child molesters to Einstein. Maybe there is a profound reason for their speech, but I doubt it. I'd never say this to their faces; just wondering if I'm sort of Nazi grammar police and making too much of this...

Judging from the above, your application to the Nazi grammar police wouldn't even make it past the automated online submission filter. But nice try.

PS: You're old if such a phrase bothers you.

This. I still have no idea where to even start in determining the meaning of "...could be place them from child molesters to Einstein."

You can break them of the habit (which is all it is, a speech habit) if it really bothers you. They may not speak to you at all afterwards, but I have seen it work. Every time one of them says ''know what I'm saying" you immediately chime in with "no, I don't know what you're saying." It breaks their flow and doesn't take that long before they stop themselves from saying it.

"it is what it is" is the worst phrase known to mankind.

"It is what it is" is one of my favorite phrases, actually. It's one that people seem to actually need to hear sometimes. They don't need to hear it because they like hearing it, they need to hear it because THEY STILL DON'T GET THE FUCKING POINT. The point is that some situations will not be to your liking and you can't do shit about it. Stop squirming and trying to whine something into happening, especially to me, and move on with life.

Others have said it already, but the word "like" should be stricken from 99% of spoken sentences in the US.

So true, some people will just no believe simple facts. After you have explained it to them in the simplest terms a few times you just give up and say "It is what it is" and you walk away.

Only thing more annoying than "know what I mean" is when you ask someone thing, and their answers starts with them repeating the question you just asked.

Actually, there is, actually. Read the actual posts in this thread and you'll actually see what I'm actually writing about. It's actually worse in spoken language than in actual writing. I'll leave it to the reader to figure out which other term officially annoys me.

"If you will", sentences ending in "If you will". It has gained a lot of popularity these days.
