Is anyone still using Bitcoin for something legal?

I'm curious if anyone on this forum is still using Bitcoin for anything legal now that the whole coin mining craze has blown over.

I used to play around with it back when I could make $5 a day with my old Radeon card, but I'm not sure why someone would want to get into it now.

I'll wait for the beta to complete and then get in on the real thing when the government releases it.

Just looked up exchange rate... 1 bitcoin = ~$350 USD. No more $900+.

There was money to be made if you were an early adopter and bought/mined a bunch when it was worth less than a penny and held onto it. Not so much anymore, though. It's been hanging around $250 for awhile now.

Honestly now that Paypal stopped trying to be the moral police with its credit card processing I don't even use bitcoin for my illegal stuff anymore.

Friend just bought LSD online with PayPal. Just waiting for someone to put a hit out on someone through eBay.

I so regret not getting into mining early. I gave it some thought but did not want to invest in video cards that I'll have no use for if this blows over, but, they're video cards, at least they have a practical use. Once ASICs took over it's even harder to justify buying them, knowing you can't really resell those if the whole thing blows over. They are made for a specific purpose and that's it.

There is probably still a tiny bit of money to be made but it's probably dollars per day if that. If it was worth while I'd love to setup like 10kw worth as it would be heat that pays for itself. But from my understanding you can't make enough to make up cost of power any more.

I picked up an R290, and some WD Red drives awhile back from my proceeds via NewEgg. My wallet is now empty.

One other regret that I have with cryptocurrency is that I never successfully launched my own "altcoin" back when everyone was trying to create a popular Bitcoin clone like Litecoin or Dogecoin.

I had this cool idea for an alternative currency called Jesuscoin for the religious crowd, but I never was able to generate a lot of interest in the idea. Seemed like a good idea at the time, anyway.

He's afraid his uncle's gonna stare at him and masturbate while he sleeps.

I find it ironic that you proselytize the forums with your views on free and open source software but when it comes to the worlds first attempt at a similar currency you mock it.

I don't know what you're talking about.

Hmm that's a shame. You're less informed than I thought.

I occasionally use it for VPN payment (PIA) or intermediary for altcoins like Ethereum.

Everyone should look into Ethereum. Regardless of how practical it is as a daily currency (it isn't yet) the things you can do with blockchains now are very interesting.

Do you have to have your computer on for a bitcoin payment to process from your wallet? I'd imagine so I guess.

They have online wallets that you can use, although I'm not sure how trustworthy they are. I know that quite a few people lost Bitcoin by leaving their funds at dodgy exchange sites like Mt Gox that went under.

That's why I want my own wallet and was wondering how payment was sent. Damn thing is like 15 GB too!
