I am wondering what fps you guys are getting. I have one 5770 and I am considering adding a second. I play at 1920x1080.
just add 80%+ performance
Im running two 5770's in crossfire with a 2500k@4.6ghz, 20-30 fps on ultra, not really playable though, although its fine on high and still looks amazing. You can pick up 5770's for about ***163;60-70 over here so its a cheap upgrade if you just want to make it playable, they eat pretty much every other game max'd out aswell.

What is going on with the forum?
I am running two 5770s in crossfire with a brand new system 6 cores AMD with 4gb of RAM and the game is currently unplayable in crossfire. If disable crossfire i get playable frames at high settings with shadows tesselation and effects at medium. It's too bad this game performs way worse with two 5770s, I upgraded just for BF3 and i run the same settings as with one card and a dual core @ 3.2. The 5770 is now officially a joke thanks to AMD. Get a newer card.
Might want to go for a memory upgrade. Heck today (Cyber Monday) you can get 8GB for $25. I have no problem with 5850 crossfire in BF3, so I know it works, but I also know it uses a lot of system memory.
And welcome to the forums.
your performance would be less than a single 5870. so take some fps off the 5870 results and that should be where you would stand with the 5770 CF.
I use 5770 CF
It had been bought especially for BF3.
ultra -- cannot be played. Because the game stop time to time (may be it is not enough DDR, I own only 4Gb)
But high is good. Usally 50-40, some times 20 fps.
In GPU-monitoring 2xGPU load 50-60% (do not know why)
For my own experience with CF the game became more comfortable:thumbsup:.
One problem is HEAT, videocards very close -- almost lay on each other, so temp for high-position card can be more 90 degrees. If close [cover/case] of computer, even see colored artifacts D:.
Sounds like you need a side-mount case fan blowing on your GPU's!
yep adding 4gb of ram to my system made a WORLD of difference. My 5870 couldnt handle it before without massive stuttering, but now its perfectly fine with 8gb ram. People say u need more than 1gb Vram to run it in Ultra, that's BS. It runs everything maxed out (but NO AA) and i get avg35fps in 64 man server with my specs. Its brilliant!
Ultra includes both HBAO AA and MSAA maxed out. The only bs is the claim to run in ultra as you aren't if you lowered HBAO and MSAA. Yes you may have ultra on the other settings, but the point is you aren't running in ultra if you lowered the 2 most intensive settings in the whole game which would have brought your card to its knees.
lol bring my card to its knees? can u please define that?? As in fps in the single digits? Well no it doesnt do that at all. I have a 5870 which is a beast. When i play i have HBAO on and everything else on Ultra, only MSAA off. I get about 40-55 FPS on a 64 man server in the Oman map (pretty intensive map). It'll dip to 37-38 when shit really hits the fan, but mostly avgs 40-55.
I just tested it on Ultra with 4x MSAA on same map with same server, i got avg 20-30 fps, dipped to 17 when stuff hit the fan but avg was 20-30. I'd hardly call that bringing my card to its knees. Personally i prefer 40+ FPS so i prefer to turn AA off and have HBAO on. Runs like butter and i couldnt be happier.
I suppose that's pretty playable @20fps... /end of debate

no the original "debate" was this:
i didnt lower HBAO, it's on. Just AA is off to get 40-55 avg fps, dips to 35 when shiat hits the fan. with 2x MSAA it runs 35-45 avg FPS, and dips to 28-30 when shit really hits the fan. With 4gb of DDR3 it was UNPLAYABLE at those settings. it would stutter constantly and FPS would be all over the place.
What im saying is the 8gb of RAM was all i needed to run the game at Ultra with MSAA 2x. With 4gb of RAM it was a ridiculous stutterfest, unplayable even at high settings.![]()
