Is anyone RCDD certified?

Hey,

The ceo of our company wants me to get RCDD certified for Telecom design, but i'm not sure how much this involves. So, has anyone got this certification?

I've only been working full time 1 year, but i've intered with this company for about 3 years prior.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am not RCDD, but worked with a bunch of folks that were.

It's hard work! There are "Study Guides" available - it's a shelf-full of three-ring binders.

The test is strictly controlled and proctored, much like a CPA-style exam.

Basically, you are required to know most of the cabling-related electrical codes, best practices, and industry standards relating to the use of anything wire-like. You have to know signalling systems, electrical, grounding and lightning protection systems, and the EIA/TIA 568 standards (and more).

I believe you have to first file an application with BICSI and be accepted into the program (or at least register as a candidate).

It's roughly comparable to a CCIE course of study: you'd be expected to be an expert in the field of cabling design and standards.
