is anyone good with ms visio or some other software that maps out a business process?

I have a sequence of steps that I need to map out.. kind of like a business process and need help with it. I am willing to pay for your time/services.

My company does a lot of business process consulting. We use a number of different tools, including Visio (sometimes the only thing a client wants), Enterprise Architect and two of our own products that we use as part of our methodology and market.

I don't have the spare cycles (despite what my posting on ATOT might suggest ) to actually take on any lengthy effort, but if I can help stear you in the right direction or give opinions on tools/people, I'm happy to help.

btw, it's a very simple process/series of steps in my opinion

I just have never used visio or any software like that

I'm a Six Sigma Green Belt, I've done tons of process maps.

Incidentally, do you know of any firms hiring into their LSS or process engineering groups in the DC area? Mine doesn't do nearly enough of that work to keep me staffed on such projects

If you're using Visio 2007, in the templates, go to Business, and choose the TQM diagram. Choose shapes, type in the box, and connect them. Most people don't even know what the different shapes mean, so use rectangles for process steps, diamonds for decisions, and circles for start/stop if its a simple process. Most people seem to get that when they read it.

If it's a simple series of steps, then why not just do it in a simple document? No need to mess with tools that you're not familiar with. We use BPMN for complex interactions, but for simple things a simple graphical demonstration of the steps will suffice.

Not sure what else to recommend unless you offer more information.
