Is anyone getting viruses in their mailbox?

I keep getting sent viruses from different addresses, though they are worded the same. The first one was from Anooj something and said to read the resume, which was a .com file. And the second was from some guy to look at some asus a7v mobo specs. Is anyone else getting this emails too?
 
For the past couple of days I've been getting emails from FREDDA SOTOMAYOR titled sonia with a body Hi! How are you?

any idea what that is?

i got two this morning, norton kicked them off my computer thank God. i think its quite a planless virus.... stupid.

Yeah, it will attempt to access various sites ending in mx...such as prodigy.net.mx, etc...it will also modify your system to open all file type *.exe with this one file, can't remember the name...
 
heh, luckily i never get spam (well, almost never) on yahoo mail.

and i'm smart enough not to open that crap if i do get it.
 
Yeah, received some .pif file the other day. DELETE. Empty trash. Bye bye.

Where's a thumbscrew when you need one for these bastards?

I've received about 5 or 6 of these now...and they take forever to download over my crappy 28.8k connection... :|
Luckily I didnt run any of them, just opened them in notepad to see what they were 🙂

It is the Sircam worm -- be very careful to get this off you machine!!!!!!! Evil freakin' Sircam worm

WHo is this Anooj? I dont know him! How did he get my email? Anyone got any info on him?
 
It just means that those people had you in their address book from a previous correspondance sometime over the last century... maybe they sent fan mail 😉 or he was planing to spam you -- anyway, they are not personally attacking you -- the worm kust propagates by going out to everyone in the address book. BUT SERIOUSLY, this one has a (random) chance to wipe out your machine in a few months -- so even if you think you got rid of it, please do a complete system scan with a recent AV update.

I saved the sttachemnet but was not ganna open it, as soon as i cliked save PC-Cillin said this is a virus and will be destroyed,

The email came from 99169057d@polyu.edu.hk

Is there any way that we can do soemthing to this guy

Before you start to go off on the guy that unintentionaly sent it. Please read the links that I posted. This is a worm. The person that sent it to you is infected. He didn't know that there was an Email sent to you. PLEASE read this Link before doing anything....

Got this one yesterday from &quot;bboomer@medianone.net&quot;. I don't know a soul on mediaone.net so I find it hard to believe that that it's a worm using someone's outlook email address book.
 
Received the identical BS file in my mail box that Medea received, also.
Saved it, scanned it, and Inoculate It destroyed it. Followed up with a complete system scan and there seems to be no trace of it.
I imagine it's some pimple ass with nothing better to do.
