I don't live in Canada, I live in America, and here in America we speak English. I'm tired of always being asked English or Spanish. In fact I'm tired of any automated phone system doing it also.

Yes I may get flamed for this, yes I might need to be more tolerant but dammit this is America and I'm proud to speak English.

English isn't the national language. I'm bothered, but it would be easy to solve. Instead of having to choose English or Spanish at the start of the process, they should have a little on screen button off to the side that you hit if you want Spanish.

That's too bad that you hate black people.

Agreed, people that have immigrated from all over the world have learned English and integrated to a degree into American culture. It's not efficient to print everything, teach everything, and spend time asking for different languages. It makes sense for Europe because of all the closely neighboring cultures, but we're not Europe.

What exactly is English English? Some American accents are more true to the pre-Victorian era English.

seriously i am sick of how everything has to have a spanish language option. I'm all for people speaking their language of choice at home, but goddamnit English is the standard and all people in America need to know it, so why provide an alternative?

I work at a grocery store and one thing that bothers me is when certain people come in to use their food stamps or WIC and you try to explain to them that they can't because of X reason and they just give you that blank stare.

I feel that if you come to this country or any country it is your obligation to learn that country's language.

From the way half of you write on this thread you don't even speak English! Marked as one of the most unimportant threads of the year.

Plus - Spanish will be the majority language soon and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

Sucks for me cause I speak English and Chinese. Become multilingual - every other country on Earth is - it's the way of the future buddy.

Agreed. The tolerance nazi's will come in and say that we need to appreciate other's culture by making everything bi-lingual though.

Yo hablo un poco espanol, yo soy un segundo ano estudiante.

So im not some cliche hypocrite over language, but everyone needs to at least know basic english since that is the language of the vast majority. Mexcians are integrating into OUR country and cultures. If you go to any other country, you will find a lot of english speaking people but if you want to live there you will have to speak their language.

I am not sick of being asked for my language. OP: Suck it up. Go to Europe and see how many times they'll ask you for your language.

When you travel abroad everybody speaks English. We are one of the few unilingual countries left on Earth.

cry me a river OP. the multi-lingual Americans are the very foundations of this country, i believe they should at least have the option of using their primary language.
