Yes, here in the Cleveland OH area, all AOL things the website, AIM and AOL are all not working when using an Adelphia cable modem. However, AOL can be used with your dialup, which pisses me off. I just got off the phone with an engineer at Adelphia's technical support, and he had just received a memo which stated that "AOL is having backbone problems" and that Adelphia users are unable to access AOL, AIM, or www.aol.com. I came on here to see if anyone else has had the problem, and from the other replies, it seems as if this is local?? Anyone else that has the problem please speak up and tell us where your from and your internet provider, so we can see if this is a local problem, an Adelphia problem, or just a crap AOL thing.
Thanks

If you want to see if it's an aol problem, do the following.
In the box where you put in your username/password, click on "settings". Hit the connection button. In the box that pops up, change the port number. It's probably 5190 now, 5191-5199 all seem to work, as does 81.
We had a similar problem here on campus, I think they capped port 5190, so we all switched to port 81 (can't cap that one 😀) and it's working fine.

thanks for the advice, but all i can find that i can change is the port for file transfer...
yes, i am on adelphia in cleveland, on hold with tech right now..
damnit this sucks
edot:changed it to 5191, still no worky
maybe this is DNS shiznit. anyone want to fnd out what the IP is for login.oscar.aol.com
edit2: well, i try pinging any aol addresses, and the request times out all 4 times, i got an IP from the DNS though, so atleast that is working.
If you're looking in the AIM settings, it's under sign on/sign off. There's a "connection" button there. Click that and you should be able tochange the port.
