Establishment Democrats like focusing on identity politics because it takes the focus off of economic policy.

Like center-right economic policies??? Florida $15 minimum wage blew way past Biden vote count. I do think there is sometimes self-interest involve, however, where that is the case, especially if there's a directly identifiable effect e.g. CA Uber/Lyft proposition that passed. Even liberals want their serfs. Liberals, not just conservatives, will also try to retain advantages if pols implement them and then it's very difficult to take away e.g. Proposition 13 -- lots do not want to give up not having to pay a fair share.

CA had a proposition for preferential treatment in government jobs for minorities. That's not inclusive. That's setting up privileges.

Democrats try to make the issue all about black people. Common sense does not prevail here. Black people commit significantly more violent crime. Black people disproportionately kill more cops. You can expect a disproportionate amount of black people to get shot.

Your last paragraph really drives home how much the right doesn't play identity politics. Thanks for the clarification!

To some people, identity politics is being triggered by 2 out the 7 Star Trek series having a female lead. "Go woke, go broke!"
Or insisting that a highly qualified candidate must be a "token" or an example of "liberals playing identity politics" solely for reasons unrelated that candidate's qualifications.
It is crazy hypocritical bullshit, but just like those Standard American English speakers who insist that Standard American English doesn't have an accent, those people just can't seem to see or hear their own bias.

This morning I saw a news headline "surge in latino votes secures Trump's win in FL". Following by an article about AOC chastizing the Democratic party for not attracting latino voters. Then theres all the talk of the "black vote"..."the asian vote"...etc.

Why in today's climate of sensitive racial issues do we continue to separate people by race? Why couldnt the headline read "surge of conservative American voters secures Trump's win in FL?

When was the last time you saw a white person hanging from a tree?

Asking for Emmett Till.

Too bad ignoramuses are not self aware of their ignorance.

There is something I have trouble with here. If ignoramuses are not self aware what possible reason would there be in informing them of that fact. There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the Biden no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this guy no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax just like Donald Trump and use the government solely to serve his own interests. And you talk about self unaware? Now I could ask myself why I bother to tell you any of this because you are hopelessly self unaware, but I prefer to ask you why you say that about others and what you expect from it. Now I have asked myself that question but I would rather hear how you explain your actions to yourself. Not a single person on earth who isn't in the same cage you are can possibly hear anything that you say, so why is it that you in particular, knowing the futility involved, bother to bray on?

And again, don't look at me. I'm know I'm crazy. The price I have to pay to be self aware.

This is never going to happen near term. There are distinct groups of people in this country with distinct histories, distinct cultures, distinct life experiences, and distinct expectations from their politicians. Of course these groups aren't homogenous. No group is. Democrats aren't homogenous. Republicans aren't homogenous. But we use averages to at least address a majority of people within the group.
