is anyone else getting just a little bit sick of pre/sequels?

let's see what's on the slate for this summer...

xmen 2
matrix 2
charlie's angels 2
fast and furious 2
t3
dumb and dumber 2
legally blond 2
bad boys 2
tomb raider 2
spy kids 3

and i'm sure i'm missing one or two. notice a trend emerging? movies are being greenlighted partially on their ability to create a franchise nowadays, and we don't help it much with threads like "can they make a godfather iv?" (sorry nfs4, but i guess that pushed me over the brink). i understand that when we like characters from good movies, we want to see more of them and their origins, but we're doing it to death. i wish i could suggest a boycott, but the temptation is too great. i've already seen the first 2 on the list, and i'll probably see t3 out of sheer curiousity. sorry for the rant, but i sometimes feel like i'm the only one who thinks about this.

dumb & dumber is the only one (when harry met lloyd), but i meant any movie that's made with the same characters/basic story as another one.

yeah, i know, but safe bet it wouldn't have been if the first one didn't break $100 million

Nope. Anything that sells creates jobs and revenue for more projects that creat, in turn, more jobs and revenue.
