Is anyone else getting annoyed with Barrett Jackson this year?

I'm watching the 2015 Barrett Jackson auction this year, and I'm noticing that a lot of the big dollar priced ultra rare cars this year aren't selling because they have insanely high reserve prices on them. I saw a few super rare Corvette's get over a million dollars today, but they didn't actually sell! Lame.

I guess that the oil barons out there don't have enough spending money to spend 2 million on a one of a kind sports car this year 🙂

Big article on Bing the other day about the high prices. I quit watching when the sold a Yenko imitation for around $125k years ago.

More importantly, who cares?

A car with a rare factory option combination will grant no driving pleasure over a common, cheap car of the same variety. It will actually be worse, because a) it will be stock and b) no one will drive it, anyway.

All Barret-Jackson does is fuck up the classic car market by making people think their shit is super-valuable, which keeps neat cars out of the hands of those of us who used to be able to buy them for cheap and spend time/money/blood/sweat/tears making them better.

I mostly watch just to see the cars. I don't really care if they sell or not.

I hear ya, but I'm starting to think that they added a few "ringer" cars this year just to keep people interested. I doubt that the people who brought these cars to the auction actually expected them to hit their multi-million reserve prices.

I went to Barrett Jackson yesterday and today. I only watched the auction there for maybe an hour at the most. There's so much to see and do besides seeing what cars roll across the auction stage. I love going there every year as I know I'll never see some of the cars anywhere else.

True... the only place where I saw that half that many supercars in one place before was at the Concours at Lime Rock.

I'm also highly annoyed that people I don't know didn't spend not my money on cars that I neither own nor will ever see.

I feel such rage...the rage of apathy.
