I have an Audio Technica ATH-A500, and I compared it with the HD280 my roommate has.

IMO ATH-A500 > HD280.

Yeah, HD280 Pro's were awesome on some recent flights I was on. I was right on the wing and I couldn't hear a thing but my music...

i use shure e2cs with no problems. great sound and very comfortable. i can have them in for 4+ hours with out any issues.

I prefer closed ear headphones, but for mobility's sake I use earbuds. I notice a lack of bass for sure, but I am useing crappy ear buds, I am planning on getting some fontopia's or something better soon.

dunno, as much as i love my hd-650s working in conjunction with my ppx3, i would presume headphones costing X20+ like Stax Omega II and Sennheiser Orpheous most certainly would outclass my 'el cheapo'

i had a bad experience once where a pair of those stock headphones that come with the old gameboys tweaked out and constantly shocked me. Pretty painful for an 8 year or however old kid.

Sony MDR-EX51 earbuds, they block out 80% of the noise around you, AND they sound pretty good for some cheap buds.

I don't use earbuds because they never fit in my right ear, and if I leave em in my ear hurts... They snug in perfectly on the left one...
