Is Antec Earthwatts ea-650 still relevant?

I was planning to build a new PC for my teenage son and hoping to use as many parts from his old system as I could. I'm wonder if the Antec Earthwatts ea-650 could power a contemporary AM4 motherboard with either an AMD Ryzen 5 2400g with integrated graphics or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X with a discrete graphics card. It should be able to handle that as long as it's in good condition.

However, if it's this unit reviewed here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=110, it only has one 8-pin PCIe cable, so that will limit you to lower-end GPUs.

You didn't state how long you have used this PSU, but it is an older unit (80 plus), and that unit only came with a 3 year warranty, so it has likely served its purpose. It might make sense to pick up a $30 bronze-rated Seasonic:

Thanks for the info. I bought the PSU 8 years ago, but it was only used for 4 of those years. It seems that I should be able to get the build up and running with this PSU since the GPU only requires a single 6-pin connector. I can upgrade later if need be.

I use this psu. I run it with multi plug high end cards using an adapter so cable situation is a non issue. Currently drives a gtx780. Owned it for several years
