is Angels and Demons (movie) anything like the book?

I just finished the book. Actually ended up spending 3 hours reading last night to finish up because it was a pretty entertaining ending. I figured given how screwed up the Da Vinci Code movie was that this one will be terrible too, but I wanted to hear from the AT masses if it truly is yet another hollywood shit-show.

Considering the book was pretty much exactly like DaVinci Code, and I saw the DaVinci Code film, I think I'll give this film a miss.

😕 Not sure I follow you there but to the OP's question...

[possible spoilers below]

The movie was ok. It stayed pretty close to the book but honestly it loses a lot in translation. For instance, the hashasin thing was totally skipped (other than the guy killing cardinals seemed to have an honor system). The whole science vs. religion deal didn't get much beyond a couple of lines.

The book is a good read. I hear there are angels and demons tours in Rome that are quite impressive.

I hear they totally left out Kohler from the movie. That's ridiculous IMO. His whole twist on things was one of the more interesting parts of the book I thought. I was so busy thinking that Kohler was Janus (before Kohler even got to the vatican) that I didn't even think of what the camerlegno could do. Without Kohler I don't think the ending could be as interesting.

So they left out everything about Kohler AND the Hashashin AND science versus religion?!? Isn't that, like, most of the book?

Sounds more like National Treasure 3.

It wasn't too good. Antiscience in some parts, I mean it made CERN look like the work of the devil. In some parts, it was even anticatholic.

Well they didn't completely leave out the hashashin, he just wasn't flushed out as much from what I gather. The murders still took place and all, but I guess he was just some random guy doing a job instead of something thinking the Illuminati had hired him and needed him.

To be fair, they ARE creating a black hole to destroy the planet, or at the very least give Satan a gateway to the mortal plane.

<< Spoiler Alert >>

A&D the movie was definately better than Da Vinci Code the movie. But it was disappointing that the Hashashin was nothing more than some random dude killing cardinals. They gave him literally zero back story.

But it was cool seeing the antimatter explode near the end.

From what I've heard the Angels & Demons movie is supposedly much better than the Da Vinci Code one.

Personally I would say no (having seen both). That said, they are similar movies and maybe watching the Da Vinci Cod made this boring to me. Plus I'm only a sample space of one.
