Is Android vs iPhone Fanboism bigger than XBox360 vs PS3 fanboism?

a fanboy is a fanboy. there's no such thing as a fanboy who's "more" of a fanboy than another fanboy.

fanboy.

no

xbox v ps3 is bigger but smaller then both Apple v windows and the king ATI vs Nvidia

Oh yes I can't forget the flame wars in the video section. Especially when some of the older fanbois were around. I guess the question is which topic generates more flame wars? Heh. Or does P&N completely steamroll this stuff? :D

Eff that, ATI vs NVidia is crap! Its clear the XBox vs PS3 one is the best. :awe:

"ati vs. nvidia is the biggest fanboy argument" fanboys are deluding themselves

obviously the best fanboy argument is iPhone/Android and I say that as a non-argument fanboy myself

I will never understand the ATI vs. Nvidia shit, they played the same games on the same platform... only difference is at different efficiencies/different bang for buck, depending on a particular time.

I actually liked my iPhone quite a bit before it died. Then I got an Android phone, and found out what I was missing :)

I must admit that I miss Plants Vs Zombies, though :(

Oh... and the weirdest fanboys are Apple Macintosh fanatics. Anyone who's willing to spend $1,200 on brand new laptop with an 18 month old Core 2 Duo processor just because it's thin and pretty looking are thoroughly deluded.

that's a pretty bold statement there. they dont put 18 month c2d processors in there...

or maybe they do with the shitty ones, but the MBP series gets updated every year at least.

Yes it is thin. Back in 2008 when I bought my laptop, I was between the XPS 15, T61, etc. There was nothing that was this thin, 5.4lbs, at 15". Every 15" laptop was at least 6.5 lbs back then. Not to mention battery was horrendous. The MBP was the only one that gave 5 hrs of battery.

So yeah, there is a point. Plus, ask yourself WTF are you doing with your laptop. Are you gaming 24/7? Me? No. I surf and do photo editing. If I'm gaming, I'm using my i7 desktop for full effect. I can be productive and yet carry a slim laptop.

I can understand if you're a tech geek and you prefer a PC laptop. I have gone the PC laptop route for 5 years before. I saw no difference because any chance I get I hop on my desktop anyway.

What I don't get are idiots who just word process, IM, chat, watch videos and are adamantly against Mac laptops. I have friends who built i7 systems only to know nothing about overclocking or even how to tweak their BIOS. Those are the people I feel like have an unjustified hate against Apple. If they don't even know what voltage their i7 is running at or care, or do anything beyond the basics that any OS should be able to do, what benefit is there to adamantly oppose running a Mac?

Now I do believe the Mac Pro is idiotic. Same with the iMac. The only benefit is the form factor. My friend spent $1800 and got only an i5. We laughed because he upgraded from the base (is it an i3 or shitty i5?) to a quad i5. Not even an i7 for that price? I suppose the form factor is nice and the display is nice. I would love a Dell U2711 myself, but honestly? $1800?

PCs are easily customizable but the laptop is NOT. A lot of companies like HP and Dell give you shitty plastic creaky builds. I've had multiple Dell laptops now and they all feel like trash. Even the Latitudes. The XPS series was nice but they took a while to slim down. And that's precisely why I went with a MacBook Pro in the end. The unibody ones are even nicer and I feel like my non unibody one already feels like trash. However at least the build itself feels better than any work laptop I've gotten so far.

Hey I'm one of those delusional people.
Bought my first Mac ever a few weeks ago and it was the MBA 11.6
Got a pretty good price on it, $890.
It just has that WOW factor.
I thought the original MBA was the biggest rip-off ever and the 2nd is better looking, more functional and much much more affordable.

For the most part, whether it's Microsoft vs Sony vs Nintendo, or Microsoft vs Apple, or Intel vs AMD, or nVidia vs ATI, it's about the same. It's cyclical and just depends on which technology is the hottest at the time. Currently most of the action is in the Android vs iOS vs other phones. The video cards out now are really kind of lackluster IMHO, maybe things will heat up with the move to 28nm and the new GPU redesigns (not the refreshes we have now) come out. The console wars are really stale as they are nearing the later parts of their console lives. Intel has been kicking AMD's ass left and right so there isn't much to talk about there either. That's basically why most of the fanboy arguments back and forth have been in here. All of the action lately is iOS vs Android.

First, Macbooks are updated on a yearly basis. They will never be updated as quickly as in the Wintel world where new models come out on a monthly basis. Yes, the lowest end Macbook Pro's had to use a C2D but that was because of a conscious decision in the design phase to achieve decent performance but still have a certain battery life.

You pay for higher build quality. Yes there is a higher markup. That's pretty much Apple's MO. If you don't think the extra engineering and higher build quality are charged by other companies besides Apple just look at many of the Alienware laptops, some of the Sony Viao's, and Samsung Series 9 laptop. And on top of all this, you get decent pretty decent battery life with the Macbooks. That's not saying Apple laptops don't have their issues but they are consciously not in the lower end of the market.

Apple is considered a premium brand, regardless of how you feel about them. To be fair to them, I'm sure they could produce a $500 Macbook. However, the build quality is going to suffer because they'll have to go with cheaper materials. If you consider Apple as a premium brand laptop or PC they are, for the most part, in line with the Wintel world.

I think android fanboys are the worst, they think they are like phone gurus by rooting and loading a few programs on their phones. Then you have the people who thinks their android phone is the best out of all android phones, specially you get this people who buys developers, like Nexus One or Nexus S, they think they own the shit and trash talk all other phones.

I laugh my ass off at the Android fanboys, I bought a G1 shortly after launch and have used every version of Android and rooted and rommed each phone, yet I, gasp, have an iPhone and an iPad as well.

To read the trash talk is like watching kids on a playground or kids in a locker room playing snap the towel.

I love the arguments of the Android fanboys too:

"But it's open." and then in the next sentence bitch about the UI skin manufacturer X put on an Android phone, or they realize the manufacturer has locked the hell down out of the OS and that it'll likely get a lot worse and that they've seen the golden days of their "open" OS and that the manufacturers don't give 2 craps about upgrading your OS or supporting older phones.

The Apple zealots aren't much better, but they're not in your face if you don't have their OS either.

These are massive corporations separating you and your money and convincing you they give a damn about you after your purchase. IMHO, Samsung and Moto are freaking ruining Android for hackers/developers, while Google sits on it's hands watching the consumer behavior data roll in. But like I said, I think Apple is just as bad, but watching fools develop brand loyalty to a corporation is sad.

What I do care about, network reliability, signal strength in buildings, a decent touchscreen experience, price, cost of ownership are what I judge a mobile device by.

My last 2 purchases: a nook color and a MacBook Air 11" worlds apart in OS, functionality, price, etc, but both highly portable and contract free.
