Is Anandtech becoming an Intel mouth piece

I have been a reader since 2003. Honestly, it feels like Anandtech's quality is dropping off and it is increasingly becoming a mouth piece for Intel?

Where are the hard hitting reviews that used to be done? Hard hitting opinions?

Anytime I open up this website, more often than not it is some Intel news hitting my eyes.

I am really disappointed.

Is this P&N??

Anyway, it seems to me that AT have done a good job getting access to ask the right people at Intel. I’m sure that of AMD wants to dish to a friendly press, AT will be just as happy to oblige. It just so happens Intel is due up next in the product release cycle so they’re getting more press now. Expect to see more AMD when it’s Zen3D/Zen4’s turn in the sun—or when they actually ship a GPU in quantity.

I did not know which board to post on sorry, but at least it is visible - and I think a necessary thing for Anand to think about.

15+ yr member with 8 posts wondering why others aren't contributing more? LOL.

I realize you're asking about reviews and articles on tech news posted to the site, and not the content of the forum boards, but it still made me chuckle. :p

Well it IS Anandtech politics, so… :).
I dont know, I think its fairly objective? We all want to see how Intel is gonna crawl back, so its good with me. I think the only person who will see this differently is someone with a heavy bias to begin with.

Honestly I haven't kept up with their tech side. Do they really rate Intel's CPUs over Ryzen? If they do it may confirm your suspicions.

Since Anand sold this place a LONG time ago...(10 years?) I doubt it's much of a concern for him.

Didn’t he, like, actually go work for Intel for a bit? No idea where he is now. I remember back when he was a junior at Enloe High School getting mad props for his tech zine.

I thought he went to Apple after he sold this place...but, hell, I didn't really pay that much attention.

I'll let you in on a little secret. I've only run Intel CPUs.
AT P&N bias, confirmed. Sample size: 1.

I only ever buy Intel laptops—ever since the original Conroe (anything I had before that was gifted by parents, but probably also had Intel inside.) Bias seconded, sample size 2!!!

8086 Intel
80286 Intel
80386 Intel
80486 AMD
K6's AMD
Celeron 300a Intel
Prescott Intel
Core4Quad Intel
Haswell Intel
Ryzen 3 AMD

Thats a three to seven bias for me.

I will say that AMD's modern gains were very tempting to follow up on. I would have purchased an AMD CPU.
But I bought from Dell, and they had no Zen3 for sale when I rushed a purchase earlier this year. Instead I got a reasonable price on a 10600k. And that is what made my decision.

AMD next has a chance in... say... 4 years. If they are still competitive / leading at that time.

I did basically the same thing. Never used anything other than Intel CPU's and 3dfx & Nvidia GPU's. Had my heart set on trying an AMD system, but I couldn't get the damn things at the time I was ready, and had the cash to upgrade my system and the wife's. I couldn't resist the 10600K for 189.00 at Microcenter. So I bought 2 of them. Both systems are working well. Now if I could just get the fucking GPU's at least close to MSRP.

My magic 8 ball said outlook not so good, so bit the bullet and paid a little premium on a 3080ti... I'd wager you'll have to wait a year or two before things drop to "normal"... At least.

TechPotato just enjoy nice things, that's why the tone is different than (far) before.
But... you're wrong, in past years talks around Intel are all critical and skeptical, including around here.

I've only ever had Intel/nVidia (with the exception of 2 SLIed Voodoo2 cards way back in 1998 or 99.

Currently running 10900K/3090 in my desktop gaming system and 11900K/3060 in my Dell XPS 17 laptop.
