Is an aftermarked CPU heatsink worth it?

I know that going with an aftermarket solution from Zalman or Artic Cooling will lower the CPU temp- but will I gain performance improvement?

I don't OC- and stock cooler keeps CPU in the mid 40's during usage. Would I see a difference in performance with lowering the temp by several degrees?

If you don't overclock the stock fan is fine unless you want something quieter.

Dropping your temps won't increase performance... unless it is overheating and having to throttle back because of it ;)

There are only a couple reasons to get an aftermarket cooler, 1) reduce noise, 2) overclock.

OC if you want more performance... what's the big deal unless you start over-volting and temps get out of control.
