Is all CompactFlash the same?

I just made a foray into the world of digital cameras by ordering this guy--

Canon A40

I want to order a 64mb CompactFlash card and know jack about this stuff. Is it all pretty much the same between manufacturers? What's a good online site to buy this at?

====================

edit--well a little poking around reveals this at newegg:

SAMSUNG ORIGINAL 128MB CF COMPACT FLASH MEMORY CARD TYPE I - OEM $42

Newegg's link

Is that a good deal? Will it work? How many decent resolution pics does 128mb translate to?

I just got one also ( camera) and I ordered the same flashcard and wasnt compatible. From what I seen most cameras use a card that has a pin out at one end (rather than the copper conncters) if its any help.

Wait are you saying you got a Canon A30 and that same Samsung compact flash and it didn't work? I don't get it, that card is type 1 and the camera takes type 1. Is there more to it than that?

CompactFlash cards are made to a specific standard as type I, II and high speed or regular speed. My Canon camera takes any C/F type I or II. Performance is best with the high speed or type II. I have never seen a pin sticking out of a C/F module. My Canon also takes IBM Microdrives because they are made to the C/F Type II standard. There are four other finds of modules used in digicams, but they are not C/F.
