Is air intake from the front of a case really necessary?

I know some people use a rear and front case fan to suck air thru the front of the case and out the back. If I plan on overclocking an Athlon 1 Ghz, how important do you think it is to have holes in the front of a case for intake?
 
you can never have enough cooling. the better you cool the components in the case the more reliably it will operate. which means the more cooler air you can circulate through the case the better it will be.
 
Do you think that would have sufficient air intake to overclock a 1.1 T-bird?
The holes look fairly small to me unless I'm missing something. What do you think?
 
i used to own the full tower versoin of that same case. actualy i sold it to my roommate so its still siting two feet away. it suck plenty of air in the front, mostly from the bottom though. dont let those little holes discurage you though, it has plenty of room to suck air up from just under that. all and all its a perty nice case for the case, might want to up the ps though with at 1ghz tbird.
 
OH definitely. I think an Antec 300W should do the trick. This all started when I was reading the recommend specs off the AMD website and they had a diagram of proper air flow coming in from the front of the case. AMD says a front case fan usually isn't necessary, but if I'm overclocking I figure it couldn't hurt.
 
The fan could hurt, if it creates turbulence inside the case that blocks airflow. The key to remeber is you want cool air coming in and hot air leaving in a steady flow.
 
I'll just have to test it and see I guess. I only have one fan ordered but I figured I could mount a second if necessary.
