Is Acura an American or Japanese company?

Had this discussion with my sister. Have any idea what the right answer is?

[edit] Yes, I know their a baby company of Honda...is there more to it than that?

Yeah...that's my gut reaction too.

But I recall an article in Car and Driver or something like that calling it an American company....and Gran Turismo 2 has it in the American car section 🙂

These companies are all based in Japan, but many of the vehicles are built in N. America, and use domestic suppliers.

Its just a market subdivision so they have an excuse to mark up their nice cars. But it is Japanese.

And yes, they get the Honda RSX, Honda NSX, ect..

No such thing!

Parts made in both countries
Factories in both countries
Workers in both countries
Cars sold in both countries
Stockholders in both countries

No such thing as what?

describing an international company as American or Japanese makes no sense.

they will have American and Japanese engineers.
they will have American engineers, who were born in Japan and recently immegrated to America
they will have Japanese engineers who were born in America and recently immegrated to Japan
they will have people, born in America of Japanese parent, who themselves emmegrate back to the Japan, but their Japanese parents are now American citizens.
