We have had several laptops and Chromebooks and IMHO it is more about reaching a certain quality level than brand or Chromebook vs Laptop.
You can buy an expensive Chromebook and the hardware will be great but then you are locked into Chromebook's "phone" style OS.
Spend too little on a Windows laptop and it will be junk no matter the brand.
Anything new much under $300 is going to be garbage.
We have had great luck with anything over $500, regardless of brand.
Examples:
Had a dirt cheap Lenovo which was absolutely unreliable in spite of the brand's better models being excellent.
Got an older Acer Nitro that my kid abused for years never turning his favorite game off even when he wasn't playing. Still runs like brand new.
Cheap HP, junk.
Expensive HP, perfect.
Mid priced HP, also perfect.
3 cheap Acers that 3 of us had, not bad for several years but eventually they all died.
Expensive MSI built like a brick, still runs great but is just too old and slow now.
Mid priced MSI runs good.
The Acer you are looking at reminds me the of the 3 cheap Acers that were fine for say 3 to 5 years. We kept one going by stealing parts from the other 2.
I'd be tempted to recommend spending a little more or maybe finding a used ThinkPad.
We have a used HP that is excellent except it has been dropped and the case around the power plug is cracked.
