Is Abit KV7 and AMD XP 3000 Barton 400FSB a good match for a system?

I'm new. I've been trying to search and read but since my knowledge is limited, I've no idea what half the things mentioned on here are. I'm trying to build (or have built) a system to be used for home business and personal use. I'll have Windows XP Pro academic version. Office 2000. I've seen the Dell stuff and don't want to go there. I don't need the latest greatest stuff. I'd look on Ebay but I don't know if I can trust it for this. I know, I'm NAIVE.

I've found a new Abit KV7 for $59.00. I found a new AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Barton 400FSB for $115.00.

I've a 20 gig HD 7200 and don't need more than that. I'll get an AGP video card. The memory will be Crucial 3200 (2x256).

Any comments or suggestions? I welcome anything.

Thank you

You can get better performance and 64-bit capability for the future (FWIW to you, but I believe you'll be able to upgrade for free with XP Pro) with a $60 Epox NF3 S754 mobo and an A64 2800+ (about $120, last I checked). Also check out the system buyer's guide at the top.

I want to thank you so much for your kind assistance. I will most assuredly follow your suggestions.

Have a good evening.
