With my Amazon wish cert and a $75 GC, i could snag the 60gb PS3 for $375
This would replace my modded xbox, which i prolly could get $100-120 for... End cost would be around $275ish

Worth it?
 
Technically, sure it is, however I don't want a PS3.

As far as the pricing, I think that's what retail should be at, significantly more reasonable than the $600 price.
 
Yep, especially with Linux running on the PS3 now. You can replace the functionality of your XBMC and add Blu-Ray support.

but i already have a Wii
 
Right now it's not worth it.

Next year this time maybe. Multiplatform games run and look better on the X360 right now.

I want a PS3 but there is no reason for me to get one yet, only 1 good game that I can think of. Fall of Man

If it was some other discount that didn't involve the use of gift certificates, possibly - but that's money that can be spent elsewhere. If the PS3 was a $375 cash transaction - ie, fell off a truck somewhere - maybe. But at MSRP, get a 360 and a Wii.

Furthermore, selling the modded Xbox would be a bad call IMHO. Mine still probably gets the most power-on time just due to XBMC, and the PS3 has nothing that compares to that.

Except he still has to spend his gift certificates to get the PS3. If he wants to convert them to cash, this is one way to do it - but PS3s are readily available. I can't see him getting much over (if at all) MSRP from a sale.

They're supposedly going to release multi-format HDTV DVD players at CES this year, which hopefully means that the HD-DVD vs. BluRay format war is going to end soon. Once it does, people will finally start buying these HiDef DVD players and the prices should drop quickly.

Wow, you think you can sell a modded X-Box 1 for $100?
 
For personal use, imo, it's not even worth $300.

However I'd buy one at that price to sell it at retail and make $$$.
