Question Is a Corsair H75 AIO adequate for a 5950X (non OC'd)?

I have a Corsair H75 AIO setup currently currently running on non OC'd 8700k chip and I have been happy with the temps...



I'm looking at the 5950X right now which is 105W (the 8700K was 95W I believe) so should H75 handle a non OC'd 5950X? I would mainly do a lot of photo editing (I just got a 61MP camera and I can tell the difference when processing the raw files from her versus my 24 MP camera)...

I can only fit 120mm radiators in my current case...

That's an older AIO. Did you buy it before it supported AM4? If so, you'll need a mounting kit from Corsair. Plus the coolant becomes less effective over time, and that cooler was released in 2014, so it potentially could have a good amount of use already.

If I was in your position and dropping that much $$$$ on a CPU, motherboard, RAM, etc. ,I'd get a new case that could support a 240 or 280 AIO, and go with something that is shown to keep up with the 5950x in demanding use.

My H75 is two years old...Amazon has the mounting kit instock for $17 (only $5 on Corsair's site but they are OOS)...

I just need the chip and MB (I have two 16GB sticks of 2666 DDR4 right now so hopefully that should work) and since I don't do any gaming, my 1660ti is good enough for me...

if not i would not recommend recycling an AIO older then 2 yrs.

Too many things happen in an AIO as well as coolant loss over time.
The pump is also close to MTBF (mean time between failure) which i have very little faith in the accuracy on an AIO made by ASTEK.
The 5950X is just too costly of an investment to cheap out on a good heatsink.

I would IMO buy a new AIO, or think of going to a Noctua D15 or a BeQuiet Rock Pro 4.

thanks guys...I will get just get a new case and 240mm AIO (kraken X53 looks good)...debating if I want to upgrade from 2666 to 3200 ram now...first world problems...LOL

My microcenter say they have 25+ 5950X's in stock (been that way for a few days now) so hope that is accurate since I will be there when they open in an hour...

Been awhile since since I built a PC but she booted up on the first try....so far, so good after fresh install...idling at around 33C...

Ended with a NZXT HW510 case and a Kraken X53 AIO...still running PC2666 memory though LOL.

Just set ram on XMP, make sure you get some good air flow though there, as the rams will be overvolted JSPEC to get XMP profiles, but it will not void your warrenty.

Run a few mem test on it, see if the board will hold @ XMP /w Stock CPU clocks.
Everything passes, your good after a few Intel Burn Test runs to check for bandwidth consistency @ overclock and temps.

Pic of the new setup...at complete idle with nothing open, she stays at 33C but as you touch the mouse (or even breathe on it LOL), the temp shoot up to 45C...she is definitely snappier than the 8700k though...

Hey @aigomorla, would it worthwhile to use the fans from my H75 AIO? in the pic above the rad fans are pulling into the case and the two case fans are pushing the air out the top/back...what if I have the two H75 push from the front of the rad?
