I think BF4 works fine with DX10 cards,

but yes, 270x seems to be a very nice card for the money, pretty good for BF4 compared to nvidia cards of similar price.

1920x1200 at high settings should work nicely.

I'd read around as many reviews as you can. The 270 or 270x are pretty solid for 1080P. You'll need to compromise on some settings though.

For no comprimises at that rez i'd go 770 or 280x. For the 770 you want to consider the 4gb version. The 280x is too expensive for just gaming, the 770 4gb is a bit expensive too.

Kind off a bad spot for upgrading because the 280x at $300 has been destroyed by mining.

If budget is $200 i'd just get a 270 non x for $180 and clock it to 1050/1500, otherwise I'd say stretch to the 780 or hope 280x prices drop. I don't like anything in between there.

4gb 770 if you want to sli. The 770 I have is 2gb and the difference in fps while settings are maxed is quite a bit better than my 7970 (bf4). Better optimizations from nvidia? So it makes me wonder why a game amd optimized nvidia ends up still doing better.

Are you guys really arguing over BF3/BF4 benchmarks and using those as a valid comparison of the overall performance of the GTX 760 vs 270x!? Come on... We all know that BF4 yields more fps on Radeons than it does on a comparable nvidia card.

The people recommending a glorified 7870 over a 760 @ the same price make this joke of a forum interesting to read for pure comedic value :D

He was asking about BF4.

The 270x does okay compaired to the 760 (beats it in both of these).

Throw in mantle patch soon out and a 270x walks all over a 760.

Every single person pimping for the 270X on this thread has touted BF3/BF4 numbers without looking at how the cards perform in other games. I don't think that's reasonable.

GTX 760 with free game vs 270X with no free game, we'll say that's about even on price.

As for performance the 760 is 12% faster in all games overall at 1080p, per TechPowerUp. Even in BF3 and BF4 it's faster, and if OP ever wants to play anything else, he'll have that 12% margin. Possibly more if you compare overclock vs overclock since the GTX 760 starts off at a higher base speed.

As for those saying 'well OP mentioned BF4' or whatever, please note OP also mentioned BF3, and I doubt he wants to play only BF3/4 forever so the GTX 760's ~12% average advantage over

BF3, the GTX 760 easily beats the 270X, 70.3 fps vs 55 fps: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7503/the-amd-radeon-r9-270x-270-review-feat-asus-his/8

BF4 tests generally show the GTX 760 basically tied with the R9 270X if not faster:

A couple 270X cards come with BF4 (XFX and Sapphire), but I would definitely pick the Sapphire over the XFX.

With that said, BF4 is currently $25 at BB today. Act quick OP, that is a decent price!

Well I was really leaning towards the 270X, but they went up like $20 just today on Newegg. Well the XFX and Sapphire with BF4 did. I swear XFX was $209 yesterday. So between that and the GTX760 deal, that seems like the way to go. Also thanks for the heads up on the BF4 deal.

edit: Bought the 760. Amazon said there was only one left but I bought it and it still says that, hah.

wut?? I had the Best Buy BF4 deal in a tab and I swear it was $30. 10 minutes later it is $24.99. I guess no free shipping then but it's only $2.99.

For full disclosure, let's mention that this benchmark was run on the only area with ridiculous amounts of DoF and in no way resembles GPU performance for 99% of the game.

I do see why TechSpot used it though. It's almost a cut scene if the player doesn't look around with the mouse.

Edit: That screenshot was 1920x1200 scaled to 1080p.

My benchmark run with a 780 at 1260 MHz, default Ultra 1920x1200:

I've been keeping an eye on Amazon stock levels on some different graphics card and noticed the stock display is a little wonky.

I was going to go for a 270x as it seemed a good midrange card but the lack of cards with a blower type cooler (I could only find one on an HIS card but it's too long to fit in my case) is a deal breaker for me as I want to use it in a small enclosed case. So I'm thinking of going for a 760 as well as the cost seems very close at the moment and I can get an MSI 760 with the Nvidia reference blower type cooler. As AT commented in their review, it seems odd there's so few 270x's with a blower type cooler when they seem ideal for a small gaming case.

it really didn't sit well with me that this card was recommended by anandtech recently. Did they need a token amd card in a meaningful price slot, and that one just happened to be the most palatable?

Newegg had 7870's for $145 in november. Why would you pay $200 or more for the same chip now? Not to mention the gtx 760's that are occasionally on sale.

Yea. about two months ago I bought 7870 for the regional equivalent of $160 (+VAT) with 2 free games (Thief for free ^^). Mined $100+ since then in the mean time.

Why would anyone pay a cent more for 270x is beyond my mind.
