Is a 7870 + 2500k a balanced config?

So the stock 8150 beats a stock 2500k?

Did not know that. Everyone said the 2500k was king for games.

BF3 is a rare example since it scales with 6+ threads.

2500 is 4 threads, it can be bottlenecked on 64p maps. But it OC like a champ, so its not a worry really. BUT if u are building a new rig now, would not recommend it. Go with the 4c/8t version of whatever intel calls their cpus these days.

Not when BF3 can use up to 8 threads. 3570k and 3770k now have the crown. Its not the "King" for games, it has the best performance for the money.

And yes, silverforce is correct. Due to the 2500k only having 4 threads, BF3 can bottleneck the CPU on the 64 player maps... and yes, that means under 60fps. I experienced this on the Gulf of Omen map looking up at the hotel towers.
