Is 8mb video enough for a pc used for DVR?

No gaming will be used on this box, but is 8mb enough for digital video recording from 4 cameras.

pc has 512mb pc3200

The video card has absolutely nothing to do with recording the video.

Now, are you watching the video in real time on the same box? A really, really old 8MB card might be too slow, or incapable of running at high enough resolutions, for that sort of operation.

... or, if it happens to be an SiS 6326-based card, it might even have idct and motion compensation, and play your recorded mpeg2 just fine 😉

But I doubt a card of that vintage will be electrically compatible with today's AGP slots ...

if the 8mb is too slow, i have a geforce 3 ti200 for the box.... but i was trying to get away with using 8mb card if it'd be fine.
