-256MB ATI RADEON? X1800 XL w/ Avivo? Technology
-Dual 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce? 7900 GT - SLI Enabled
also what is the big advantage of sli, im currently using a 6600GT and think its great

IMO, the 7900gt sli is like the best sli option right now, that is if you voltmodd them. If not, I would go with a 7950GX2.

7950gx2 will be cheaper and offer better performance then 2 7900gt's midly oc'd
2x7900gt's voltmodded will smoke a 7950xg2, although after the cards and aftermarket coolers it might come out pretty expensive..

Hope that helps.

EDIT

Couple more things, the voltmodded 7900gt's will tread 7900gtx sli territory or even be faster depending on how far your voltmodd goes. So it might be worth it.
Also, make sure you have a good psu to back it up, whether you get the 7900gt sli or 7950gx2.

Don't think about an X1800XL, if you're going for a fairly cheap ATI card then get the X1800XT, they can be had usually for about the same price as a 7900GT.

a single 7900gt shouldn't run you more then $240.. and if your not going to oc I'm gonna strongly urge you to get a 7950gx2.

That definitely is the best loud bang for the buck...if you disagree with me (given the actual situation) prepare to accept your Nvidia fanboy badge.

im getting the nForce?4 SLI? Intel Edition Chipset Motherboard PCI Express SLI mother board
still asking, is sli worth it, as i sayd im using a 128mb 6600GT ( not 256 i just checked my dxdiag ) and i think it works great. Whats the difference with sli, im not going to be getting dual monitors.
nitromullet alot of those were overclocked, i wont be overclocking.

This might be a bad move. I am not sure if the nForce4 SLI Intel motherboards support the new Core 2 processors, which as Anand himself says, will make the current Pentium D obsolete. If you are going to buy an Intel system, make absolutley 100% sure that your motherboard supports Core 2.
is sli worth it
That really depends on how much money you have to spend... With a 1680x1050 screen two cards is certainly not necesary. I can play everything I want (with settings maxed out in most cases) with a single high end card on my Dell 2005FPW, which is also 1680x1050. Granted my card is notch above a single 7900GT...
as i sayd im using a 128mb 6600GT ( not 256 i just checked my dxdiag ) and i think it works great.
If you are happy with a 6600GT, a single 7900GT is going to blow your mind :)

you sayd your card is a notch above a single 7900GT, will a single 7900GT still be able to support 1680x1050

if im getting a Intel® Pentium® D Processor 930 w/ Dual Core Technology 3.0GHz 800MHz FSB
and if im getting the single 7900GT then im probably getting the NVidia nForce?4 SLI? X16 Motherboard
So now is basicly down to how my monitor will run with a single 7900GT

yeah its worth it. performce wise it is prolly going to beat any single card in its price.
2 7900gt =2 240=480.
7950GX2=500+

and you can OC the 790gts more, use after market coolers, do voltmod. etc

but its upto you to decide if the extra cost is worth it to YOU.
i play on a x800gt and i am perfectly happy with no intention to upgrade in the next 2 years. (i can even play oblivion at 1280x1028 with foliage).

so to me a 7900gt sli is not worth it. but it maybe to you. depends.

No!!! For the love of god don't get the Pentium D 930 or that motherboard. Conroe will be out in a couple of weeks and will blow that CPU out of the water. I just checked out the current price for the 930 D and it seems to be anywhere from $175 - $200. If you are going to lay down that much for a processor you best bet will be to wait for the Conroe E6300 which has a list price of around $180.

For a motherboard you should wait to for the Intel 965 chipset motherboards and then go with one of them.

But whatever you do, don't get any of the Pentium D as they will be completely obsolete in only a couple of weeks.
Good luck!

what do you mean by obsolete? they wont work anymore, games wont work on them, computers wont work with them, or they will just suck?

7950gx2
pro: is faster than 7900GT SLI stock.
pro: only card with true DHCP support.
pro: quiet.
pro: single slot, does NOT require SLI MB (save $$ on mb)
con: still expensive

7900 SLI
pro: can be OC to surpass 7950gx2 speed.
con: loud

1900xt
pro: best bang for buck.
con: louder than 7900, runs hot, slower than above

1800xl
pro: cheap, possibility to unlock to 1800xt
con: slower than all of above

Pentium D 805 + OC = best bang for buck dualcore CPU.

few things
- Currently im on a Intel Petium 4 2.66GHz, so im pretty sure the 930 will be great to me?

- One 7900GT requires 400 watts, do i need a 800 watt psu, because im get a 650

- And how loud is sli because i want a quite system since its going to be locked in my room.

1. you can save some $$ with Pentium D 805 OC to 3.4 mhz. same performance or faster than 930.

2. 7950 requires a 400watts. your current psu should be enough.

3. 7900gt sli is 2x as loud as 7900gt. 7950gx2 is quieter than 1 single 7900gt.

Why not look for E6300? (this core is damn fast for a budget CPU)

Go for core2 duo, because it is the best bang for buck if you are looking to buy a new PC.

I agree. E6300 is awesome!
It does, that's why we're telling him not to buy the motherboard that he's looking at.

so if your going to get a single 7900gt, mine as well get a SLI compatable one? just in case you do end up going SLI in the future?

Is there a difference in performance between a 7900gt and a 7900gt (SLI compatable)?
