Is $74 for a Lite-ON CDRW too good to be true?

My Sony 8x4x32 burner died today, So I'm in search for a new burner and I read in storage review that Lite-on CDRW's were pretty good for the dollar. But I wanted to hear from some actual users to see if this is a wise purchase. I have ME OS, p3 550,256 pc100 ram, and don't burn a whjole lot, just occasional music or backing up my files. And I have either Roxio 5.0 plat. or sony's CD extreme at my disposal for software. So any recomendations or experiences with these burners and recomondation with software would be appreciated.

Lite-on's are fantastic deals for the price. If you're in the US i highly suggest picking one up from newegg.com. I own the 16x and it works great, and i know several people that picked up the lite-on 24x and have no complaints. I say go for it!

come on, only $97 for the 24x lite-on at newegg. I just built a system with it and it is nice, and they come with Nero...

my 16x liteon is great. believe most everyone on this forum agrees with me when i say liteons are good burners.

I'm surprised Plextor is still selling those overpriced CDRWs... They are 40% more expensive than LiteOn's... But Plextor has a little cooling fan on the back! Neat...

the 16x is ok for straight burning, but its audio rips are error prone and it isn't sd2 capable/small cd compatible and some other things i forgot. go to cdrinfo.com and look at reviews of both. i have the 24x, its 99 at frys or around the same at newegg without rebate.

May I suggest 16x / 12x / 40x Cyberdrive w/Nero 5.5

I paid $65 for it and it is sweet!

My friend ordered a LiteOn 16x burner today from here in the UK.

Its a fantasic drive, even though we pay considerably more for it over here, it costs us £72.00 which is $100 :disgust:
