I'm just curious ?
Runs on retail HSF (no AS), asus probe reports 52c roughly 1Hr
into prime95.
Can I trust asus probe ? it also shows Vcore at 1.56 despite me
setting it at 1.6 in bios.
How much lower can I expect the temp to be , if I scraped stuf that
came with heatsink and replaced it with arctic silver?
Thanks.
Here are the specs :
asus P2S333,
northwood 1.6A @2.4GHz ,1.6Vcore(in bios)

Right now prime is at ~3000th test temp stabilized at 52c.

Curious to see answers... I've got the same CPU with an Asus P4B266-C @ 138FSB and 1.60v. I haven't measured the temp in either the BIOS or MBM but it's stable so far. Well, I'm off to toss some MOH at it...

Don't trust asus probe! It says my cpu temp as 50c idle. I am using MBM5 now, my temps @ 28C idle and 32c full load. Retail hsf with artic silver btw. Bios reads my cpu temp same as mbm5 too.

That can't be...
You must set MBM5 to read the mobo temperature.
Make sure sensor 1 is set to ASUS2(CUSL2) and the sensor 2 to ASUS 1.

The voltage being lower is normal, if you set it to 1.7 in bios, it's more like 1.65.

Asus pc probe and the bios temps are off, a bios fix will patch this. Use MbM for all temps.

Your also using the crappy thermal pad I see, if you put some Arctic Silver 3 on the cpu and lose the thermal pad, your temps will drop a good 10c at load.

I bought Artic silver as u guys suggested. I find it so hared to believe that this could lower the temperature so much. Why are the stock ones that comes with say 1.6a of so much poorer quality than artic silver?

Its true, its dang true. ;) ( For those WWF fans out there.)

Cpu: idle 28c
Case: 21c

I got a screen shot to prove it too if you want.
