Is 51 Degrees C too hot for a case?

I am trying to keep a QUIET case/computer. Is this too hot for idle? My CPU is at 54. Am I baking anything?

If the actual air temperature is that high, it's going to be bad for your components. I would shoot for actual air temperatures of 35C or less. Dead computers are really quiet, of course... :D

This temp is the sensor on my MB. One (local) says 54 (CPU) and one (remote) says 51.

Is there any good way to increase airflow without the added noise?

Could the problem be my PSU? It has only 1 opening for air to do in. I think its a deer--something.

If you have a regular thermometer in your house, put it inside the case for an hour, use your system for something moderately stressful such as a game, then open the case and see what the thermometer is reading.

CPU temp below 60C at full load is still safe.

You may want to get some thermo controlled case fans, I use them and love them...very quiet.

Your hd's wont like such high case temps one bit, they usually get problems at 55-60 and normally they're quite a bit above case temp (my Barracuda IV was 44c at a case temp of 32C when I checked quite a while ago and Barracudas are cool running). IBM has directly stated that 60+C (internal temp not case) is deadly for their drives.

You can get 12db case fans, 80mm at least, they're very silent, you won't notice them but even though they do not move that much air it should help tremendously.

Can anyone reccomend fans? I have bought a few and NOT been happy with them. Is the Zalman fan ZM-f1 or something like that, good? I have an antec stealth. When I turn down the voltage via rheobus to quiet it, it stops. :( Seems like real strong magnets.

Any good fans out there?

panaflos and papsts are what would look for. both companies make quiet fans and they tend to put out a lot of air for their noise level.
