is 50c OK for a tbird 1.4

My 1.4 OC'd to 1.6 on an ABIT KG7RAID runs about 51C - 53C Full load, so I'm sure yours is fine... 🙂

50c is fine. Generally, as long as the temps stay under 60c full load, you should be okay. Once it goes beyond that, then your asking for trouble. I believe the AMD TBirds are rated to operate at temps up to 70c, but you wouldn't want to take your chip to the melting point. Also, a lot of probes measurements are a little on the low side, so 50c could actually be closer to 55 or 60c. If possible, you might want to hook up an intake fan, preferably in the lower front part of your case (if you don't have one already). I noticed all you mentioned was the 80mm exhaust fan. Also, if you aren't using a good thermal compound, like Arctic Silver, that might be a cost effective way of dropping a few c's off your temps too.

That's fine.

My Tbird 1.4GHz on an Epox 8K7A is at 44 right now...of course, the room temperature is much lower than the rest of the house right now in the computer room as one of the windows has a "leak." Usually it's at ~48-49 for normal operations and 51-53 for full load. Using a TaiSol 760092 HS/Fan and one 80mm intake blowing perpendicularly in the case at the HS/Fan unit (well, raised above it...but this fan blows onto the cooler...so it just provides it with new, cooler air to blow at the HS).

I hit about 60C on my 1.4Ghz. I'm currently on 1.6Ghz though. No instability problems and whatnot. It's safe as long as it's below 65C. 🙂
