Do you guys tip , tellers. meter reader mailman. I would never tip my barber and I have known him for 50 years. But I remember him at Xmas. Whats the $5. tip for. Ya paid the man $23 bucks for 10 min. hair cut . Seems to be well paid. My wife doesn't get tips from her employer when she gets her check . My son doesn't get paid by truck drivers for helping them load cargo . Fact is because of restraunt prices . I won't tip the waitress any more. The pricks that own the place should pay better. Trueth is I haven't much hair left now . He lol every time I come in . But we chat well together

Ya want to know some interesting facts. Look up what a GOOD bum begger what ever makes in a year . It will blow ya away.

Sorry didn't notice were talking woman . Thats a bit differant. as far as prices go . but still no tip. Xmas works better and is better deal for my barber

A friend of mines daughter is a waitreess at a country club . Only gets $14 dollars an hour. But on a good night makes $300- $400 in tips + the $ 112 she earns. Not bad for an 18 year old. living at home.

You do realize that the hairdresser doesn't get the whole $23 unless she owns the place, right?

Ok lets bite into this. Its normal to tip your waitress correct. The crack head taking drive threw orders at Mc Donalds takes your order right.Service is usually fast . Do you tip the guy that took your order. I don't because half the time ya don't get what ya order.
Isaid befor I don't tip any more at restraunts. Not true. If I had good service a nice smile and Good food. 20% If one of the above is lacking 15% . But with pricies high as they are now . 10% no matter what. For my wife and myself . Eating at a fine club cost around $80 . now its over a $100. That a bit much. Plus my town has zero fine eating places so we drive 50x2 miles to Rochester Ya I sqeeze pennies.

I know most the people in my town . I know them well . I refuse to help people who won't help themselves . Plus the fact I fear what they use that $$ for. My town is really really bad . Drugs . Big time. Not POT . DRUGS. I have zero problems with pot smokers . But the rest of it scares the hell out of myself.

Ok Nemesis, what you're not understanding here is making you look like a fucking fool. People who work at McDonalds make slightly over minimum wage, 7.00 / hr or whatever and they're content with that for whatever reason, and you're not supposed to tip them. People who work at Chili's, Friday's, etc. LIVE off tips and the restaurants assume that's how they make their money and get away with paying them wayyyy less than the legal limit.

Waitresses don't make fucking 14 / hr base, and if you think they do you're just ignorant. They'll make BELOW minimum wage, my wife made 2.12 / hr , bartenders make 5 / hr or so, and that's the standard for people who wait tables.

In the end, I don't know how much people who cut my hair make, and if they assume the same things about that profession. But not tipping someone waiting your table at a Friday's makes you look like a piece of shit, especially if they gave you good service.

You're probably one of those guys that's makes them run around the place to your every demand too, then you tip 10% max, and god forbid the food comes out late, and you'll ignorantly blame it on the waiter/ waitress and not tip at all.

Fuck you.

Just saw that you BITCHED AND MOANED about eating at fine clubs? are you fucking kidding me? If you can afford to eat at fine clubs driving a fucking hour away you can afford to tip someone who is busting their ass to make sure you're meal is enjoyable.

What a fucking asshole.

Okay, the cold reality is, the average income of a waiter does not equal $14 dollars an hour. Try less than half of that. Only recently are they making anything close to minimum wage. Prior to that, restaurant owners can be real assholes and pay their servers the bare minimum (which at the time was around $2.14 or so) and have them make up with tips.

I tip $5 on a $20 haircut that includes cut, wash, conditioning, and styling. And my guy does a consistently good job, unlike the cheaper places I've been to over the past seven years.

So basically you tip like everyone else.

Yea thats a huge ass rant that moved from haircuts to drugs..... And he never really said anything.....

You should see his ramblings in the gay high school thread.

Oh, and when it comes to tip discussions, everybody should ignore Nik.

Glad other people agree with me. That guy just drove me insane for some reason there...

The ignorance seemed too overpowering. People like him should not go anywhere and interact with people.

California waiters make full minimum wage.

No. Unlike under federal regulations, in California an employer cannot use an employee?s tips as a credit towards its obligation to pay the minimum wage. California law requires that employees receive the minimum wage plus any tips left for them by patrons of the employer?s business.

I pay around 15%, give or take, depending on how poor my mental math skills are at that moment.

I always tip, but I'm not going to be pressured into giving 25%+ (partially because of the above information). OK, if I made a mess or had some strange requests and they did a good job accommodating me, yes, but that's not a a frequent occurrence.

Take order within 10-15 minutes of seating, bring food while it's still reasonably warm, refill drink once if necessary, bring utensils if someone forgot to put them on the table beforehand, job done. I'm happy. Not rocket science.

Sweet, in California they make minimum wage! Not everywhere else they don't.

I think he's right on this.

I don't usually tip on % for a haircut. Just whatever I feel like. Usually $5. Less if it's crappy.

Don't you realize the hard work put in for a haircut...the schooling the licensing?

And you only tip $5....

Gosh you are a CHEAPSKATE!!!

you should tip at least $50, if not $100.

stupid argument usually said by someone that is a child.

You tip those in the 'service' industry.

Also if you are indeed in your 60's+ you would know the fucker at the chair in the barber shop ain't getting that $23.

also they are paying a waitress $14/hr+ tips in the several hundred per night?

I am sorry either she is sleeping with someone on staff or that was just a really good night.

Is she the only waitress there? I call shens on $300-400 is a typical night...much like the Dominoe's guy thinks he would really make $40k+ a year extrapolating his Friday/Saturday 6pm-2am shift money

Just read more and you say it's about 100miles roundtrip to a fine restaurant ('club' lolz)....

yet the teenybooper next door is driving that for her gig?

I think a better tip would be don't pay $23 for a haircut.

That being said, 5-15% is more than enough tip for anything. You want a 20% tip then you better blow me.

That should be plenty. I used to tip $3 on a $12 haircut. I paid $30 a year ago for some clippers and have since saved $60 on haircuts ($15 x 6 hair cuts - $30 clippers).
