Is 320 watts enough????

I have a a 320 watt PS made by TTGI. Should this be fine for a XP1800? Or would I find it necesssary to go to 350 watts?

It should be fine, but it depends on what else you're running in your system. How many harddrives, cd-roms, pci cards etc....

I'm running a 1700+ OCed to 2000+ on a 250 watt. All I have is a 20GB HD and one 50X drive though. My new case will have a 400 watt I will see if there is a difference in performance.

More than enough for your situation, but I would go with a quality psu, such as Antec or Enermax. As long as you are not straining you system, that 320W should be fine. If there comes a day when it can't hack it or you are having stability problems, then upgrade to a better psu.

Yessir. I'll add one thing. Most often it is the QUALITY not QUANTITY of the PS that matters. I would take a 300W Antec/Enermax/other big name PS over a 400w no-name-off-brand PS anyday of the week.

It sounds like you will be fine. Try it. If you get random lockups or crashes then your PS may be to blame. Also, the diff b/t 320 and 350 watts in a no-name supply is pretty much nonexistent. 🙂

I'm still using my old 300W power supply that I used in my TBird system and it powers my decked out system perfectly.

I'm using a 235w Powerman with an Athlon 1.4. The machine also has a burner, cd, another hdd, and several fans. It runs fine. It has run fine for over a year.

Try to find out the number of amps on all of the rails, then post that. I've found that more helpful than just "320W PSU". You'll want plenty (like 30A) on the +5V, IMO.

AMD has a nice guide to building systems (circa 2002/05) that includes some helpful info on calculating your system's power requirements, making sure you don't forget anything.

Another vote for quality over quantity, not only will a quality PS power your system better it be that much more reliable as well.
