Amazing! The body shop mechanic pulled into our driveway about an hour and a half ago and did all the work outside. He just called me outside to show me the finished work - it's not perfect, but it will definitely do. $300 well spent, IMO. Here are the results:

fixed bumper 1

fixed bumper 2

See, I'm too anal about my cars to pay money for that.

But if you're satisfied, that's what counts. Congrats!

Thanks! :) I'm not anal about my car at all, it's a beat-up 2001 Honda Civic LX salvage that's been bumped so many times while parked at Venice Beach, etc. that it isn't even funny.

My husband, on the other hand, babies his precious 2006 Acura TL. Psh! :p

Heh, that's mighty impressive for the price and for the damage it had before. For someone whose not terribly picky, I'd say you scored HUGE on that.

$300 for a new bumper and paint in So Cal? What are you guys smoking? For my TSX, a new bumper would run you $350-400, then another $350 for labor and paint.

Thanks, we're pleased as punch about it! I'm about to drive it to work soon, and it looks fine. Before, I was concerned that the bumper would fall off in the middle of the freeway, but all is well now. :)

Looks like $50 work tops.

Ouch, that's pretty stingy.

The guy brought all of his tools with him and spent an hour and a half outside working in the hot sun. I thought he did a nice job given the situation, and gave him a cold bottle of water and a slice of birthday cake to go.

Sorry, I'm just extremely picky. It also looks like the gap the hood is off. Did the hood get bent upward slightly?

I understand, no need to apologize. I'm really not that picky, and am just glad the bumper is attached and dent-free. I don't think the hood got bent upward slightly in the hit-and-run, I think it's always been like that. I can't be sure, though... will that affect the performance of the car at all?

Hm... my GF backed into a supporting wall in my friend's driveway and caved in the rear bumper cover pretty well. I managed to pop it out myself wiith a few improvised implements. Of course, I didn't have to take the bumper off, either.
I'm undecided if I feel that looks like $300 worth of work. But in the end, you're happy with it and saved money, so I guess you couldn't ask for any more than that :)

Very impressive, you're a very resourceful partner! My husband is better at generating code than car repair, and I'm just glad we got everything taken care of relatively smoothly. I'm off to work now, newly repaired front bumper and all! :)

I'm still better at generating code than car repair, but I do what I can ;)

Whether you got swindled or not, all that matter right now is that, as a woman, you have a non-beater of a ride:cool:
