I have never played organized softball before, and am joining a coed rec league through work. We had our first practice last week, and I definitely think I want to be in the infield rather than outfield. More action, and when in the OF I do not get a very good jump on balls.
That said, SS is unavailable because one of the actually good players is going to be there. That leaves 2B and 3B for me. My arm should be fine for playing 3B. Is it better to be over there on the pull side for most hitters, or do I want to be attemping to turn double plays and such? Do traditional double plays even happen much in softball? I am under the impression that 2B generally doesn't get much hit that way, so double plays would be the majority of my action over there.
