North Face for college kids? He must be confusing it with A&F.

A&F is for high school kids.

Anyways, 28 is not too old to wear North Face, especially the spring/fall style jackets. Although, if you wear business clothing, it is good to have a wool/cashmere full or 3/4 coat for the cooler months.

My problem with TNF is it's so 90's and like everyone has it, might as well go to Walmart...

Please get a clue dude, Arc?teryx or Spyder FTW.

If you're not wearing tnf just because it's "90s" then you're just as bad as the op's friend.

Uhm, that is kind of an odd thing to even bring up, it is not like it is covered in outrageous logos or golden dragons and such. I would say it is a perfectly acceptable adult clothing.

This.

I'm not real good at sarcasm. I wear mainly Red Head cause it's what they sell at BassPro. Cheap and good quality.

its for any age,
That being said, I simply would not be caught in NF wear. WAY to trendy for my tastes with ALL age groups, not to mention that there are WAY btter outdoor clothing brands out there for the same or less money.

Now THAT being said, I do own NF powder pants.... but they were a hell of a deal (free).

Spyder really? I see ALL the 6 year old kids at my daughters pre-school wearing that. It seems to have become mainstream. When I was in HS, 15+ years ago Spyder was THE cool brand for skiing.

dood your friend has clearly have not lived in the new england area. i would not have survived any boston winters without my northface 2 pieces. the apex bionic is clutch too. shit is expensive for a reason. everything else will fade, rip, look ugly after a season. northface goes strong and lasts a few of years of hard use and many washes. columbia stuff is okay, but clearly lower quality than northface. patagonia is top tier - better than northface - but not affordable for me. oh and i'm in my late 20s. there is no "too old" in the face of quality and functionality.

Pretty much. There are places where this stuff is needed. I wear North Face stuff all the time when climbing/mountaineering because it's reasonable cost for function. It's not blowout better than its competition, but they do a fine job of keeping pace.

While we're on the subject of brand wars, Mountain Hardwear stuff holds up far better than any other "outdoor" brand I've used with the possible exception of Arc'Teryx. Honestly though, for what you pay for it, Arc'Teryx shit BETTER last til the end of time.

How do I "lose".

In any case, it's not like they're designer or anything. They're just a big brand. I guess Dells and Macs are only for college students too.

Depends on what it is. If it's the GD Denali that is a fucking fleece, then yes. Those things are all over the place (here, anyways), and they do nothing. TNF USED to make really nice gear, but they sold out. You can still find good stuff, it's just harder. I love old TNF gear. It's awesome.

28 isn't too old for North Face, but I will say that at the college I went to (UVA), North Face fleece + Nalgene bottles + gray New Balance sneakers or Uggs were the uniform of the preppy sorority/fraternity crowd.
