Is $26k for a 2008 350Z a good deal?

Apparently, it was titled so it is being sold as a used car but it only has 25 freaking miles on it! The car is black with black cloth interior. It is a 6spd manual and fairly basic with the exception of a set of 19" wheels which look good but I don't really care about that...in fact, I think I'd prefer the factory alloys.

I drove the car and really liked it. Suspension is firm but not harsh, brakes are excellent, as is fit and finish. Man, you could turn this car around in the average 2 car garage without ever hitting reverse. It has a very tight turning radius...probably because of the short wheelbase.

The engine and gearbox are sublime. Lots of useable power and great fun to row through the gears. Pedal placement is near perfect for heel/toe driving. I could spend hours driving this car and never get tired of it.

Anyway, I'm not really in the market for a new car right now but I have to admit that this one has me thinking about it...😀

This is the car: Text

In my opinion, I'd say it is better to shell out an additional 3-4k to get a 370Z instead.

Just some thoughts

1. Those wheels are ugly

2. What spec is it? Base 350z were only $27k new anyways. 2 years old, this seems like a huge rip off unless it's a loaded touring or grand touring. Looking from the pictures, looks to be a base model with rear spoiler.

3. Did someone take care of it? Was it just garaged or did it at least get the oil changed and moved from time to time to prevent tire rot and such?

4. Those wheels are horrendously ugly.

I would personally go for a new 370z over a old 350z. It costs $3k more, but the 370z is supposed to be by all means better than a 350z. The price isn't impressing me on that Z.

I did like the car though. It is great fun to drive. 😀

Whoa when did you change your avatar?

As for $27k, why not a Lotus Elise? You can usually find some 2005 Elises with touring and 30-35k miles for $27k. 350Z are nice but I personally wasn't terribly impressed. For day to day, I actually liked driving the E46 BMW 325/330ci verts more and fora true weekend car, might as well go all out for something like an Elise.

I see the 350Z as more livable day to day than the Lotus. The Lotus is a no-compromises sports car. The 350Z is a larger, heavier, more plush, cheaper...still a lot of fun but this is a car you could use as a daily driver. I don't think the Lotus would make a good daily driver, although, I'd love to give it a shot. 😉

I've made my mind up though and I'm not buying anything right now.

As for the avatar, I like to change them from time to time. There was a parody thread in OT recently where a white guy was wishing he was black so I changed my avatar when I posted in it...can't even remember what I posted now that you mention it.

I'm not hung up on avatars. 😛

The G35 Coupe is hands-down a better choice IMHO in that price range if you're willing to deal with a lightly-used vehicle. You can get loaded, mint-condition 6MT '07+ coupes with extremely low miles for that kind of price. Better interior, better options, better badge, same reliability as most important bits are pretty much identical.

Nissan learned their lesson from the G35/350Z coupes, they were waaay too similar. Now the 370Z is light, sporty, and agile, and the G37S coupe is more plush and heavy.

I didn't realize the Lotus was so affordable. I freaking LOVE the Lotus Elise. If I hadn't just bought my Z and had more money to spend, I'd def. splurge on the Lotus. I would say thats probably the #1 car I'd want to have, price not an issue.

The Elise/Exige are badass, but unbelievably impractical on a day to day basis unless you're a single garden gnome. They serve a very singular purpose to a degree of excellence seldom seen, and with a near-bulletproof Toyota powerplant to boot. But as an only driver, I'd have to say that defies all logic.

As a weekender/spare car it's a beaut though 🙂

The 350z isn't much more practical than a Lotus. Sure, it has a small trunk and a bit more luxury, but its still two seats. Do I use my small trunk... sure. Do I NEED it? Nah, I could go without. My wife has a car with a backseat and a trunk if we really needed one 😛

Local auto ads section of our Saturday paper has all 2009 370Z's $5K off MSRP.

They look worlds better than the 350Z's.

Too much. Dealerships were clearing 2008 350Zs last year for like 21-23k new.

Eh, you sure on that? That seems awfully cheap for a new 350z.

Yes. Stevens Creek Nissan had a few 350Zs (base, no options, etc.) in the 21-23k range late last year.

Yep. I tried to get in on one. They were all gone.

is the car already in service according to nissan? if so you're gonna lose a year of warranty (or however long ago the customer delivery date is).

at the least i'd make them take those shitty looking wheels off and give you a better discount.

Yes, it is. The Elise is soo much smaller it really is about as practical as a motorcycle.

Lotus Elise:
Length: 149 inches
Width: 67.7 inches
Height: 44 inches
Wheelbase: 90.5 inches
Curb weight: 2006 lbs
Luggage Capacity: 4 cu ft

Nissan 350Z
Length: 167.2 inches
Width: 72.8 inches
Height: 51.8 inches
Wheelbase: 100.4 inches
Curb weight: 3269 lbs
Luggage Capacity: 6.9 cu ft

You can't even fit a bag of golf clubs in the Elise unless the clubs ride shotgun.

If you're over 5'11" tall just getting into and out of the Elise is a chore.

Yes, I'd wait for the 370 to come down into your price range rather than paying a fair price for the last of the previous gen.

Not a good deal at all. Around my way (so cal) I've seen new 370zs sold for 26k. But of course its just the base package and they only advertise "1 only".

That's a base model. Doesn't even have a stock LSD.

Skip it and find another one that's at least an Enthusiast level trim.

yea the dealer near me still has 08 nismo's for 10k off msrp + 0% making them in the 28 range

i am guessing leftover base Z's would have been in the ~23k range easily

Those wheels are pimp. Let me guess, previous owner picked it up, drove it to get some dubs put on it, then pulled over for routine traffic violation on way home, 8 kilos found in the trunk, and now he's in prison.
